Drugs, guns and cash seized in Meigs search; 3 arrested

POMEROY -- Three people were taken into custody late Thursday night as agents of the Southeast Major Crimes Task Force and Meigs and Gallia County sheriff's deputies executed a search warrant in Middleport.
The warrant stemmed from a long-term investigation into alleged drug-trafficking from 363 Barefoot Hollow Road in Middleport, according to a release from the Meigs County Sheriff's Office.
Upon entry into the Barefoot Hollow Road residence, agents and deputies secured 10 individuals before finding an 11th hiding in the rafters, the release said. The search yielded approximately 150 grams of suspected fentanyl and heroin, along with about $11,000 in cash. Thirteen firearms were also seized, the release said.
Taken into custody and transported to the Gallia County Jail were:
¯ Logan Rocchi, 30, Middleport, on first-degree felony charges of possession of heroin and possession of fentanyl.
¯ Michelle Jones, 43, Middleport, on a warrant out of Meigs County.
¯ Jamie Bowman, 47, Gallipolis, on a warrant out of Gallia County.
Task force agents will consult with the Meigs County prosecutor regarding additional charges and future grand jury indictments of other individuals at the scene, the release said.
"We have witnessed drug addicts coming and going from this residence and purchasing fentanyl while the suspects profit," Meigs County Sheriff Scott Fitch said. "The drug traffickers serve no purpose in our community but to destroy the lives of so many people. The only place for these individuals is behind bars, serving a long prison sentence. We will continue to pursue drug traffickers with every resource available to us."
Fitch thanked Gallia County Sheriff Matt Champlin for his assistance with the execution of the search warrant.
The Southeast Major Crimes Task Force is part of the Ohio Attorney General's Office's Organized Crime Investigations Commission and consists of representatives of the Washington, Morgan, Noble, Monroe, Meigs and Athens County Sheriff's Offices; the Marietta, Belpre, Glouster, Middleport, McConnelsville and Nelsonville Police Departments; the Washington, Morgan, Noble, Monroe, Meigs and Athens County Prosecutor's Offices; and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
