PARKERSBURG -- Discovery World on Market and the science experts from Chemours will bring learning to life with a members-only Science Saturday demonstration from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

The presentation in the theater area is best suited for third through sixth graders, according to Wendy Shriver, executive director of Discovery World. Cost is $5 per registration for the members-only event.

Chemours chemist and Discovery World board member Leo Lech will perform fun science demonstrations.

Science Saturday will be held quarterly, Shriver said.

Experiments include making alginate worms, a demonstration showing how easy it is to make some polymers.

Participants will learn about Water Lock, an experiment that shows how science is used to solve many problems that occur in everyday life. The Indicator Lab is an experiment using a naturally occurring indicator found in purple cabbage.

Tickets can be purchased by going to dwonmarket.org or at the Discovery World on Market ticketing booth.

Chemours is a major supporter of Discovery World. This past spring, the company awarded Discovery World a $350,000 multi-year S.T.E.M. education grant through the Chemours' Vibrant Communities program. Science Saturday is part of the grant.
