Locals play part in MC holiday show

Local students are in the new show opening Friday night at the Alma McDonough Auditorium at Marietta College.

Caleb Bland of Williamstown is a member of the cast "The Thanksgiving Play" and will play Jaxton in the presentation by The Theatre at Marietta College.

"The Thanksgiving Play" by Larissa FastHorse is a satirical comedy about playwrights who try to write a politically correct show about the first Thanksgiving. Performances are 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Bland, who is majoring in theater-performance, also has performed with the Mid-Ohio Valley Players and played the son Hank Abernathy in "Abernathy in Marietta" in June and "You Can't Take It with You" and "The Spitfire Grill" in 2022.

Bland is a graduate of Parkersburg High School.

Working behind the scenes are River Perry of Williamstown, Dallas Lacey of Marietta and McKenzie Cameron of Vincent.

Perry is working in lighting design. The Williamstown High School graduate is majoring in theater design and technology.

Lacey, a graduate of Marietta High School, is the sound design assistant. Lacey is a theater major.

Cameron is the master electrician. The theater design and technology major is a graduate of Warren High School.

Tickets for the show are $15 and can be purchased online at https://mariettacollege.yapsody.com/. Admission is free for students and employees of the college.
