ATHENS -- A Vinton County man died Saturday after a single-vehicle crash in Hocking County.
According to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Joseph V. Deirfield, 29, of McArthur, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Corvette south on Middlefork Road near Ohio 180 around 5:32 p.m. Saturday when he lost control, crossed the center line and went off the left side of the road. His vehicle struck a ditch and multiple trees, then overturned.
Deirfield was pronounced dead at the scene by a representative of the Hocking County Coroner's Office, the release said.
The crash remains under investigation by the patrol's Athens Post.
