WSCC’s inCERT program to kick off today

The new inCERT Yourself program at Washington State Community College kicks off today, according to a release from the Appalachian Ohio Manufacturers’ Coalition.

The program that provides industry-recognized credentials for successful careers has already enrolled 64 students representing 10 school districts.

The kickoff will start with a reception from 9-9:30 a.m. today in the Washington State Commons.

“We extend a warm invitation not only to participating students but also to school administrators and local business/industry partners to join this groundbreaking initiative,” said Washington State Dean of Engineering and Business Daniel Leffingwell, who created the program.

The inCERT Yourself program includes the active involvement of local districts. Initially, these districts generously pay for their students to attend, investing in their future, however, upon successful completion and earning of credentials, districts will receive reimbursement of $1,250 per credential earned by each student.

Students also will have the opportunity to earn two credentials, providing a significant boost to their skills and employability.

The financial support for the program comes from the Innovative Workforce Incentive Program, which aims to encourage educational initiatives that align with workforce development needs.

The Appalachian Ohio Manufacturers’ Coalition is a manufacturers coalition in collaboration with education, social services and community leaders focused on aligning the learning system with the needs of the manufacturing community to support economic growth and a high quality of life in Southeast Ohio. The coalition is helping to gather industry support for the Washington State inCERT Yourself program, college officials said.

AOMC is an Ohio Manufacturers’ Association Endorsed Sector Partner.
