Matamoras traffic signal being removed
Intersection does not meet warrants for signal
MATAMORAS — The traffic signal at Ohio 7/Main Street in the Village of Matamoras will be removed Thursday.
It was determined last year that the signal equipment and supports are in need of replacement, at an estimated cost of $150,000-$200,000 to the village. The Ohio Department of Transportation and the village agreed to complete a traffic signal warrants analysis. The analysis, which includes traffic counts and crash data, indicates that the intersection does not meet the warrants for a traffic signal.
The removal follows a 90-day study period which started on Aug. 7, 2023. Data collected during the study period confirms the signal is no longer needed. Stop signs have been installed on Main Street, making the intersection a two-way stop.
