VINCENT — Warren Local Schools Board of Education swore in two board members and chose its President and Vice President during the board’s organizational and regular meeting Wednesday evening.
Jesse Roush and Debbie West were sworn in as board members.
This is West’s sixth term as a board member. Roush is the executive director of the Southeastern Ohio Port Authority. This is his first time on the board of education.
The board unanimously voted for Debbie Proctor for President and Bob Crum for Vice President. Crum was president last year and former board member Sidney Brackenridge was Vice President at that time.
“I’m excited to fulfill the role. I have been on the board, as Bob [Crum] said, for a few years, so it’s a good opportunity,” Proctor said about being chosen as board president.
“It’s great. We’ve had an initiative in the past to try to get newer people doing things. Debbie’s been on the board for a number of years so it’s time for her to do that,” Crum said about being voted vice president and Proctor being chosen as president.
The board set the time, date and place for the regular board meetings for 2024. Warren Local Schools Board of Education meetings will take place on the fourth Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at Warren High School in Rooms 1710/1711.
During the meeting the board set the amount for their Service Fund – which they use for retirement gifts, board professional development and other things according to District Treasurer Melcie Wells – at $8,000, which is the same as last year.
Wells discusses treasurer’s business during the meeting, including the fact that the district received a donation of $25,000 from Citizens Bank. The donation is for a new scoreboard for the baseball team. Superintendent Kyle Newton said the plan is to have the scoreboard up by the time baseball season starts.
“They are a great partner in our county,” Wells said of Citizens Bank.
The Board chose people for committee and liaison positions for 2024 as follows:
District Operations Committee:
≤ Bob Allen, Chair; Bob Crum, Member; Debbie West, Alternate
Evaluation of Superintendent Committee:
≤ Debbie West, Chair; Jesse Roush, Member; Bob Allen, Alternate

Policy Committee:
