Many Warren FFA students took their Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAE) to the next level to apply for state degrees. This year we have a total of nine state degrees, six American Degrees and five proficiency awards being sent to the state level for evaluation.
Many students competed in Career Development Events over the past couple months. Colten and Grant Gilliland competed in the Agricultural Power and Diagnostics contest at district level.
Four of our members competed in the Food Science contest, evaluating different aromas, taste testings, lab equipment identification and math problems, placing sixth in the District. Team members were Dustin Vandine, Colten Gilliland, Abby Murphy, Launa Ireland and Libby Swaney.
Five of our 8th grade members competed in the State Middle School contest. Great job representing Warren! Team members were Lexus Vandergrift, Josiah Jenkins and Alexander and Andre Winters.
Congratulations to our students for taking their skills to the next level by competing in the District Job Interview Contest! Members competing were McKensie Mason, Ryace Boyer, Madison Biehl and Steven Anderson.
Many community service projects were completed throughout the winter, with the biggest being the annual Clothing Drive. Students from the school were asked to bring in gently used clothes to be donated to local area food pantries. Our members then sorted the clothes and set up a clothing store within the high school, where students were able to anonymously shop for clothes and take them home. The remaining clothes were then donated to a local food pantry. Members also completed the annual tie blanket making project for the EVE's Women's Shelter. Over 30 blankets were hand made by our students and delivered to the Women's Shelter. We are looking forward to another busy spring as we wrap up our Spring Sale Fundraiser and begin to plan new events. Be sure to help us celebrate National FFA Week this year February 20-23, 2024. Our Degree Ceremony was held Feb. 13, with our annual Parent/Member Banquet being held on March 9 at 6 p.m. Thank you for supporting the Warren FFA and Agricultural Education!
