Britton
Marietta High School has celebrated homecoming this week with various activities.
Dress up days included PJ Day, USA Day, Jersey Day, and Class Color Day. Classes will compete in rock painting, spirit games, and float building.
The freshman class float theme was “We are the Bigger Tiger.” The sophomore class float theme was “Send Circleville Up, Up and Away.” The junior class float theme was “King of the Jungle.” The senior class float theme was “Bow Down to the Tiger King.” Each class voted for class representatives, and the entire student body voted for the 2024 MHS Homecoming King and Queen.
*Avery Baker, 17, is the daughter of Lucas and Johanna Baker. She has served as class president the past four years. She is also Key Club president and Interact Club treasurer. She is a member of National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Debate Club, Model UN, Environmental Club, Students Solving Problems, Student Leadership Group and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She has played varsity soccer for three years. She currently plays tennis and serves as a student tutor. She volunteers at animal shelters, Harvest of Hope, and the Gospel Mission Food Pantry. She was part of the Memorial Healthcare Summer Internship Program. She plans to attend college next year to pursue a BSN and eventually a doctorate. She hopes to become a nurse anesthetist.
*Amelia Becker, 17, is the daughter of Dustin and Kristin Becker. She is a member of National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society. She is captain of the varsity girls’ soccer team and chosen for First Team All District in soccer and first Team TSL in soccer. She plans to attend college next year to pursue a degree in the medical field.

Blavos
*Reagan Karcher, 17, is the daughter of Chad Karcher and Katie and Shanaka Haney-McGowan. She plays varsity volleyball and softball, was chosen for First Team All Conference, and is on the principal’s list. She volunteers at the Gospel Mission Food Pantry and youth volleyball camp. She plans to attend Mount Aloysius College next year to study sonography and play volleyball.
*Julia Malone, 18, is the daughter of Greg and Jessica Malone. She is a third year varsity letterman and has received multiple coaches’ awards for softball. She is on the principal’s list and serves as the team captain as well as pitcher and utility player on the varsity softball team. She volunteers at softball youth camps and helps with softball fundraisers. She plans to attend college next year to study sonography.
*Jacey McKnight, 17, is the daughter of James and Shawna McKnight. She plays varsity soccer and basketball. She has achieved honorable mention for the District Athlete Outstanding Scholarship Award for basketball for three years. She has earned the MOVSL All League Award and the Varsity Bar Scholar Athlete Award. She is a member of MHS Student Council, Key Club, and National Spanish Honor Society. She plans to attend college next year to study psychology.
*Collin Davis, 17, is the son of Mitch and Andrea Davis. He plays soccer for the varsity boys’ team at MHS and for the Club Ohio United Travel Soccer team in the spring. He has helped his travel team achieve three conference championships, three sectional championships, one district runner up and one district championship. He has served as captain of the Club Ohio United travel team and was awarded an honorable mention All-Conference in high school soccer. He recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout and is a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Vienna. He spends his free time working at Pawsh Pet Salon. He plans to attend college next year to study civil engineering.
*Brayden Jones, 17, is the son of Bobby and Jessica Jones. He is a member of Spanish Honor Society. As a member of the varsity basketball team, he has lettered for three years. He is a consistent principal’s list honoree and in addition to playing MHS basketball, he plays travel basketball in the summer and helped his team win sectionals last season. He has been a counselor for Tiger Basketball Camp the last three years and has volunteered with the Gospel Mission Food Pantry and the Boys and Girls’ Club. He plans to attend college next year to study chemical engineering.

Parman
*Riley Moore, 17, is the son of Timothy Vincent and Amber Moore. He is a member of Interact Club, Student Council, Debate Club, and Key Club. He participates in the EMT certification class at Marietta High School and attends Souls Harbor Baptist Church. He plans to pursue a degree in nursing in college next year and hopes to obtain a master’s degree in nursing and to become a neonatal nurse. He plans to serve as a volunteer EMT and work as a lifeguard in the summers while he is in college.
*Nolan Parman, 18, is the son of Cody and Amanda Parman. He is the MHS Student Body President, an Eagle Scout, and a member of National Honor Society, Key Club, and Model UN. He is also a member of the MHS rowing team and plans to attend college next year to pursue a degree in biology.
*Drew Warden, 17, is the son of Marc and Katie Warden. He won the Roger Miller Award and was chosen for the Second Team All-League Baseball. He plays football and baseball and hopes to continue playing at the collegiate level when he attends college next year.
The Junior Class Attendants are Micah Schenkel, 17, daughter of Geoff Schenkel and Alice Stewart, and Kellen Miller, 16, son of Seth and Annika Miller. She has earned a varsity letter for track and also plays soccer. She is on the principal’s list and is a member of MHS Student Council and Key Club. He plays varsity soccer and is a second year varsity letterman and an honor roll student. He is a member of Grand Central Youth Ministry and was selected for Youth Advance Leadership Conference. He has participated in several mission trips, including a trip to Honduras to build homes. He works at S.M. Miller Home Services doing videography and social media marketing.
The Sophomore Class Attendants are Adelia Berner, 15, daughter of Erling and Maria Berner, and Levi Hearn, 15, son of Larry and Melissa Hearn. She is a member of Tri-M Music Honor Society and is an honors student. She plays junior varsity and varsity soccer and is a member of the Tiger Navy Crew Team. She also plays Club Ohio Soccer and participates in Key Club and Cantabile Choir. He runs the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash in track and field and participates in Cantabile Choir and Bass Chorus.

Moore
The Freshman Class Attendants are Maeci Blavos, 14, daughter of Aaron and Lisa Blavos, and Cody Britton, 14, son of Michael and Jennifer Rutter. She is a member of the Tribe team in Club Volleyball and works as a cashier at Kreamy Kreations. He plays basketball.
The homecoming parade will step off from Marietta Elementary School at 5:45 p.m, today. It will continue up Putnam Street to Fourth Street and down Hart Street to Don Drumm Stadium. It will feature the Wall of Sound, Marquettes, MHS cheerleaders, class attendants, king and queen candidates, and class floats accompanied by members of each class.
The homecoming dance is sponsored by the sophomore class. The theme is “Enchanted Garden,” and the dance will be held in the MHS gym from 7:30-10 p.m. today. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. DJ and light show will be provided by Aidan Herb and Jack Youngs from LAYZA Events.
