Inauguration slated for new Washington State president
Inauguration ceremonies for the new president of Washington State College of Ohio will be held 2:30 p.m. Jan. 31 at the college.
Sarah Parker will be the eighth president of the college at the invitation-only ceremony.
Succeeding Vickie Wood, Parker became interim president of the college in May 2024 and was named president of the school in November.
She was vice president of academic affairs at Washington State for six years and was involved in the development and expansion of academic and workforce pathways, including the implementation of eight-week courses and the bachelor’s of science in nursing. Previously Parker was the academic dean at Hocking College.
Parker was raised in grew Pittsylvania County, Va., and received a bachelor’s and master’s in English from Virginia Tech. She received a doctorate in educational administration and leadership from Ohio University.
Wood left Washington State to become president of Trident Technical College at Charleston, S.C.
