PARKERSBURG — WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center has been named amongst America’s 250 Best Hospitals in 2025, according to the latest research released by Healthgrades.
This achievement ranks CCMC within the top five percent of hospitals nationwide for overall clinical performance for the third consecutive year, reflecting Camden Clark’s commitment to exceptional patient care.
WVU Medicine Camden Clark is the only hospital in the region to earn rankings within America’s 250 Best Hospitals in 2023, 2024 and 2025, and one of only two hospitals in the state of West Virginia to be recognized among the Healthgrades America’s Best ratings for 2025.
“We are honored to be ranked amongst the best hospitals in the nation for the third consecutive year,” said Sean Smith, WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center president and CEO. “Providing the highest level of quality, compassionate care is a great source of pride for us, and we applaud our dedicated providers and staff whose efforts have once again earned us this distinction in 2025. This national recognition further strengthens our local commitment and mission to meet the healthcare needs of our community for a lifetime, and we look forward to continuing to serve patients and their families throughout our region.”
Healthgrades evaluated risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates for more than 30 conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide to identify the top-performing hospitals. The 2025 Healthgrades analysis revealed significant variation in hospital performance, making it increasingly important to seek care at a top-rated program. Unlike other hospital studies, Healthgrades ratings are based solely on patient outcomes.
“As one of America’s 250 Best Hospitals, WVU Medicine Camden Clark is elevating the standard for quality care nationwide,” said Brad Bowman, MD, chief medical officer and head of data science at Healthgrades. “Healthgrades commends Camden Clark for its ongoing
leadership and commitment to providing the best possible care for all patients in the Mid-Ohio Valley.”
Among other Healthgrades ratings earned in 2025, Camden Clark was named first in the state of West Virginia for Cardiology and Pulmonary Care, is a recipient of Healthgrades Specialty Excellence Awards for Stroke Care, Critical Care, and Pulmonary Care and received 11 five-star ratings in six service areas.
“We are thrilled to be named one of the national leaders in clinical excellence by Healthgrades for three consecutive years, demonstrating our commitment to delivering the best outcomes for our patients and caring for our communities,” said Martha Dawson, MSN, RN, WVU Medicine Camden Clark vice president of quality and patient safety and chief quality officer. “I’m honored to work alongside our multidisciplinary team of physicians, clinical and support staff who strive to provide the most advanced, patient-centered care.”
In addition to recognition amongst the Healthgrades 250 Best Hospitals and Specialty Care ratings in 2025, Camden Clark has recently received national excellence of care awards across major clinical areas from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, CareChex, the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology and U.S. News & World Report.
