Fort Frye FFA celebrated National FFA Week from Feb. 24-28, a time dedicated to honoring agricultural education, leadership, and community involvement.

Throughout the week, members showed their spirit by dressing up and participating in several fun events, blending long-standing traditions with new activities. It was a great opportunity to bring members together, engage with the community, and highlight the important role of agriculture in our daily lives.

The chapter kicked off FFA Week by celebrating its newest members, who proudly added their handprints to the wall in the Ag room, a tradition symbolizing their commitment to the chapter. The day was filled with excitement and fun, featuring ice cream, a game of dodgeball, and creative outfits as part of the teacher-student swap theme. It was a great way to start the week of fun.

Fort Frye FFA kept the FFA Week celebrations going with a fun-filled “Terry Style” day, where members sported Hawaiian shirts and Crocs, adding a splash of color to the festivities. In addition to the spirited dress-up theme, the chapter hosted a special teacher lunch to show appreciation for the incredible Fort Frye staff, recognizing their support and dedication. It was a great way to combine fun with gratitude, reinforcing the sense of community that FFA Week is all about.

On Wednesday, the FFA continued the week celebrations with a special visit from Ohio FFA State Treasurer Layna Gordon. During classes, Gordon led interactive leadership workshops, sharing her experiences and valuable lessons with our members, inspiring them to grow as leaders. Adding to the day’s excitement, everyone showed their spirit by rocking out in pink, because on Wednesdays we wear PINK. It was a memorable day filled with learning, leadership, and lots of FFA pride.

The chapter continued its FFA Week celebrations on Wednesday night with the Greenhand Ceremony, a special event dedicated to recognizing outstanding members and their remarkable achievements. It was an evening filled with recognition, pride, and inspiration as the chapter honored the future of Fort Frye FFA. A huge shoutout goes to the officer team for their hard work in planning and presenting such an incredible event. The ceremony featured three speakers: Advanced Prepared Speaker Alexis White, Fort Frye FFA Alumni Speaker Julie Witten, and Ohio FFA State Vice President At Large Josie Jennings.

In addition, the chapter recognized 11 exceptional members for their dedication throughout the year in their Ag classes. The Star Discovery Award winners were Miley Snyder and Levi Wagner. The Star Greenhand Award winners included Mollie Lang, Alyssa White, Caden Henniger, James Cody, and Graden Miller. Lastly, the Star Chapter Farmer Award winners were Kallie Boley, Hannah Weiker, Zoey Miller, and Ty Worthington.

The chapter also took time to recognize any Career Development Event (CDE) teams who placed in the top 10 in the state, highlighting their dedication and success in various agricultural competitions. It was truly a night to remember, celebrating the hard work and bright future of Fort Frye FFA. The chapter would like to congratulate everyone who received their Discovery, Greenhand, or Chapter Degree!

Thursday of FFA Week at Fort Frye was packed with creativity and competition. Members embraced the “Anything But a Backpack” theme, bringing their school supplies in everything from feed sacks to suitcases. The day’s excitement continued with Aglympics, where participants competed in events like hay bale toss, “barrel racing,” and “tractor pull.” Adding to the fun, everyone showed off their best dance moves with Just Dance before wrapping up the day with a well-earned pizza party. It was a perfect blend of friendly competition, laughter, and FFA spirit!

Thursday evening, a group of Fort Frye FFA members took a trip to the Schottenstein Center to watch the Ohio State Buckeyes face off against “That Team Up North” in an exciting hockey game. The intense matchup went into overtime, but the Buckeyes pulled off a thrilling victory. As part of FFA Hockey Night and the chapter’s FFA Week celebrations, students had a blast cheering on the Bucks and enjoying a meal at Raising Cane’s. It was definitely a fun-filled night.

The chapter wrapped up FFA Week with a competitive and fun-filled Cornhole Tournament, which brought out some serious talent. Congratulations to the champions, Ethan Wagner and Luke Phillis, for their victory! The tournament also served a greater purpose, as the money raised will be donated to the LA Wildfire Relief Fund, helping those in need. Additionally, the week saw the conclusion of the Coin War, a fundraiser to support the purchase of FFA jackets for members. Thanks to the generous contributions throughout the week, enough money was raised to purchase four jackets. To mark the end of the Coin War, a teacher was chosen to receive a slushie shower, and Mr. Hartline was slushied by member Haiden Schaad! It was a perfect ending to a week of celebration, community, and FFA pride.

As FFA Week came to a close, the Fort Frye FFA chapter reflected on a week full of fun, tradition, and community. From recognizing outstanding members to engaging in friendly competitions and celebrating with school spirit, the chapter truly embraced the meaning of FFA. The week wouldn’t have been a success without the support of the dedicated teachers, staff, parents, and community members who joined in the celebrations.

The chapter is deeply thankful for everyone’s support and participation, making this FFA Week an unforgettable experience. We look forward to another year of growth, leadership, and pride in agriculture!
