WATERFORD — Wolf Creek Local Schools announced that Suellen Coleman will be the district’s new superintendent starting July 1, 2025.

The school made the announcement on a Facebook post earlier in the week.

Coleman was the high school principal at Waterford since 2013 after working as an Intervention Specialist and a Special Education Director for the district. She has been with the district for a total of 23 years.

According to the post on social media, board members feel that her familiarity with the community and dedication to academics were all reasons as to why they made this decision.

“The Wolf Creek school board is pleased to have Suellen Coleman as our new superintendent and looks forward to many successful years working together to provide quality education and opportunities to our students,” said Board President Hugh Arnold.

The board has been working with the Ohio Valley Educational Service Center since the resignation of previous Superintendent Doug Baldwin in December.

According to the Facebook post, Arnold expressed “public appreciation to the Ohio Valley Educational Service Center, specially Mr. Dalton Summers and Mr. Richard Hall for providing an outstanding candidate pool from which to select our next superintendent.”

Once Baldwin stepped down from the position, former superintendent Bob Caldwell served as interim superintendent until a decision on the position had been made.

“I’m very excited to make a bigger impact on the school district,” said Coleman. “I enjoyed having an impact when I worked in the high school but I wanted to bring continuity to the entire district.”

Coleman expressed her excitement to start this position and is looking forward to continuing her career at Wolf Creek Local Schools.

Starting at $2.99/week.
