Frontier Alumni Association 1969-1990 announces scholarship winners
NEW MATAMORAS — For the 14th year in a row the Frontier Alumni Association 1969-1990 has issued two seniors at Frontier High School a scholarship.
This year the scholarship amount has been increased from $500 a year to $1,000 a year. Dianna Steinhoff Springer (1985 alumna), vice-president of the association awarded the scholarships at the recent 21st annual Frontier High School senior awards program in the Frontier High School cafetorium on May 18.
This year congratulations go to recipients Kaylynn Lauer and Joel VanWey. The Alumni Association thanks all the seniors that applied for their scholarships.
Lauer is the daughter of Lana Lauer and Nick Lauer of Newport. She applied to and was accepted by Marietta College in Marietta.
She will attend their history and secondary education programs.
Her goal is to receive a bachelor degree in secondary education. Her dream is to become a history teacher.
Her ultimate goal is to become a college history instructor.
VanWey is the son of Tina and Daniel VanWey of Newport.
He applied to and was accepted by the Ohio Northern University, in Ada, Ohio.
He will be attending the school’s honors program.
His goal is to receive a Pharm D. His dream is to become a pharmacologist and medical activist.
His ultimate goal is to become a researcher for treatment and potential cures for Alzheimer disease.
