Washington County Sheriff’s Reports
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports Feb. 1-10:
Jan. 17
– A deputy began an investigation into a financial scam/theft of over $1,200 in Belpre Township.
Jan. 21
- A deputy along with the Salem Fire Department squad responded to the home of a deceased individual.
Jan. 22
– A deputy began an investigation in Belpre Township regarding a check being passed on an account owned by the victim.
– A deputy was dispatched to Waterford Township to a domestic violence complaint that occurred earlier that day. Dispatch advised they received a call from an individual wanting to make a report on Aidan Martin. Neither the complainant or suspect were at the residence upon law enforcement arriving. The complainant spoke on the phone with the deputy and advised that Martin pushed her onto the bed, then came up behind her and put her in a chokehold. The victim stated she could not breathe at that point. Later that evening while visiting in Vienna, the Wood County Sheriff’s Department arrested Aidan Matthew Martin, 26, Beverly, on a charge of stalking/harassment. The victim had visible scratch marks on her neck from a physical altercation earlier in the day. A warrant was requested and issued for Martin on charges of domestic violence and strangulation.
Jan. 23
– A deputy began an investigation in Warren Township regarding a dog bite.
– A deputy began an investigation in Belpre Township where items were allegedly stolen from a residence.
– While en route to a possible domestic violence call in Waterford Township, a deputy was advised that the potential aggressor left the residence driving a white Ford F-150 with a water tank in the back. Contact was made with the complainant, who stated William Foss became upset when asked to sign some paperwork. Foss reportedly had been drinking, and the argument started with him throwing things throughout the house. Foss allegedly threw the complainant onto the couch and was in her face, then obtained the complainant’s phone while she was calling for help and threw it at her, breaking the phone. A lieutenant made contact with Foss in a traffic stop, and the odor of an alcoholic beverage was present. William Chase Foss, 33, Beverly, was advised he was being placed under arrest. Two open containers of alcohol were found in the vehicle. When asked if he had been consuming alcohol, Foss reportedly stated he had been earlier. A field sobriety test was administered at the Marietta Police Department with the results being 0.136. Foss was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, open container, disrupting public service, domestic violence and failure to obey a traffic control device. He was taken to the county jail for processing.
– A deputy responded to the scene of an animal not being restrained. The owner had previously been warned, however the animal was now owned by another subject. The current owner was warned of potential charges.
Jan. 25
– A deputy was dispatched to Waterford Township in reference to a domestic dispute complaint which occurred involving Douglas Woodall. The deputy was advised that the two had been drinking alcoholic beverages and an argument began. Woodall allegedly shoved the complainant to the ground and would not allow her to get up. He then allegedly struck the complainant several times with an open and closed fist, and she began swinging back at Woodall to defend herself. During an attempt to phone for help, Woodall took the phone and threw it on the ground, shattering it. Douglas Eric Woodall Jr., 26, Waterford, was gone from the residence upon law enforcement arriving, but was arrested on Jan. 26 on charges of domestic violence and disrupting public service.
– Deputies were dispatched to Ohio 60 in Muskingum Township, to a report of a male in the parking lot with a firearm. Contact was made with Kaleb Bennett, and it was determined that the weapon was an airsoft pistol and not a real working firearm. Bennett was advised of his rights, which he understood. Bennett advised he was there to visit a female he thought had taken items from his vehicle. The female stated Bennett accused her of taking something from his truck and threatened to knock her teeth out. The female said Bennett grabbed her arm when she attempted to get out of the vehicle but she was able to slip out of her jacket, which was observed in the vehicle. The female stated she believed there may be a firearm in the truck. Kaleb Michael Bennett, 23, 213 Karry Circle, Delaware, Ohio, was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail on charges of assault and unlawful restraint. Marietta Municipal Court records show Bennett was found not guilty of the charges in June.
Jan. 27
– A deputy began an investigation into a West Virginia license plate allegedly stolen while at a residence in Belpre Township.
– A deputy began an investigation into a Muskingum Township resident having a residence broken into and items of value removed.
Jan. 28
– It was brought to a deputy’s attention that a video was posted on social media by Christopher Henderson in which direct threats were made to specific parents. After concluding the investigation, the deputy requested a summons be issued for Henderson, no age or address listed, to appear in Marietta Municipal Court on a charge of menacing.
– A deputy observed a vehicle with a poorly lit registration. A traffic stop was initiated, and driver Stratton Johnson gave consent for a search of the vehicle and his person. Passenger Makayla McAtee consented to a search as well, and a hard foreign object was located on her person. After being read her Miranda rights, McAtee reportedly stated Johnson handed her a cylinder container when the police cruiser’s lights came on. Johnson was read his Miranda Rights and would not speak to deputies about the incident. The container contained a snort straw, burnt foil with residue and 4.6 grams of suspected methamphetamine. Mikayla Christine McAtee, 27, 129 Franklin St., Marietta, was arrested and charged with possession of drugs and tampering with evidence. Stratton Wade Johnson, 33, 205 Fay Ave., Marietta, was charged with possession of drugs and tampering with evidence. Both were taken to the county jail.
– A deputy patrolling Muskingum Drive observed a passenger vehicle commit a traffic violation. A traffic stop was conducted, and a K-9 free air sniff was conducted with a positive hit being made on the vehicle. A search of the vehicle yielded 30.69 grams of methamphetamine. Driver Marc Lewis Jaeger, 57, 488 Muskingum Drive, Marietta, was placed under arrest, charged with possession of drugs and trafficking drugs and taken to the Washington County Jail for processing.
Jan. 29
– A deputy and the Devola Fire Department responded to a possible illegal burn at Millgate Road.
Jan. 31
– A deputy was dispatched at approximately 8:03 p.m. to a report of domestic violence in Muskingum Township. Marquise Marshall had reportedly struck the complainant with an extension cord, and the victim had marks on his stomach consistent with that. After Marshall was placed under arrest, a search of his person revealed a glass smoking pipe with residue consistent with the use of methamphetamines. Marquise Tyrone Marshall, 28, Marietta, was taken to the jail on a charge of domestic violence and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.
Feb. 1
– A deputy observed a pickup truck along Ohio 7/618 which had struck the guardrail. A check of the vehicle revealed no occupants. Little Hocking Volunteer Fire personnel arrived, stating they saw a subject walking. The deputy made contact with that subject at the Par Mar and escorted him back to the scene of the accident to meet with Ohio State Highway Patrol authorities.
Feb. 2
– A deputy was dispatched to Liberty Township to a possible domestic incident. After conducting the investigation, it was determined that a juvenile would be charged with domestic violence and disrupting public services.
Feb. 3
Deputies responded to Congress Road, Belpre Township, to a report of Waylon Frankie McCune beating on an individual. The victim reported arguing and fighting with McCune for days, saying he struck and choked her. McCune advised the two had been fighting and he tried to distance himself from her. McCune stated that when he got up to get a cigarette she made threats to him. The victim advised these threats were made in self-defense. Wayne Franklin McCune, 50, 797 Congress Road, Belpre, was placed under arrest and charged with domestic violence and strangulation.
