The Frontier High School alumni classes of 1969-1990 recently held their 13th annual class reunion on June 13-14.

Both nights of festivities were held at the American Legion in Marietta. For the Friday night mixer type of evening, a DJ provided music from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s eras.

Due to heavy rain, classmates gathered for their first inside group picture. Some individual classes and couple pictures were also taken, with Victoria Cassady, middle/high school secretary, helping out. Anyone still interested in purchasing a group picture can do so for a small charge that will include postage by contacting Cindy Evans Amos (1975) at the middle/high school.

This year, the class of 1975 was honored as they celebrated being out of school for 50 years. On Friday night they decorated with a disco ball, neon/black light posters, black lights, lava lamps and colorful tie-dyed table cloths. Several of the 1975 classmates dressed in outfits they might have worn back then.

Marvin Mosser (1980) gave a blessing before the buffet-style dinner began. Door prizes provided by area merchants and alumni were awarded throughout the evening.

Throughout the weekend, alumni browsed through picture albums, scrapbooks, yearbooks and the memorabilia table. There was also a memory table that was dedicated to the classmates from 1969-1990 who have passed away, with the individual’s senior picture and a single candle lit in their memory.

A live auction was held, with Jeff Beaver (1976) serving as auctioneer and items donated by alumni.

* Teri Carr Leister (1976) donated a beautiful hand-stitched, oversize, king-sized quilt. High bidders were Mosser and Debra Newlen Wheeler (1982).

* Christine Christian West (1972) donated a colorful golf-themed stained glass piece. High bidder was Mike Jarvis (1971).

* Adam (1979) and Dianna Steinhoff (1985) Springer donated a taco-themed basket. High bidder was Carolyn Resovsky Buddie (1972).

* Gale Mosser (1977) handcrafted an oak picture/flower stand. High bidders were Rick and Michelle Boston Nicholson (1977).

Ronald Smithberger (1975) donated a Winchester 12-gauge shotgun that was raffled off and won by Sherry Reynolds Taylor (1978).

Beaver, president of the Frontier High School Alumni Association, spoke about some of the events from the past year, including alumni working concessions last fall at the homecoming football game. Parents that normally work concessions were able to watch the homecoming festivities and game.

At the 21st FHS senior awards program ceremony, two Frontier seniors were awarded scholarships of $1,000 each from the Alumni Association. Applications for the scholarship, which has increased from the original $500, are available from high school guidance counselor Holly Loughry Cunningham (1990).

There were approximately 96 classmates and 25 guests in attendance on Saturday night.
