PARKERSBURG — A 48-year-old man from Stark County, Ohio, whose car was found abandoned in Mountwood Park, has still not yet been found.
According to a social media release posted on July 1 by the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched on June 27 at approximately 12:40 p.m. to the Mountwood Park volleyball area regarding an abandoned vehicle which had been sitting in the park for several days.
Sheriff Rick Woodyard said an individual noticed that the car was abandoned in a remote part of the park and called 911 after seeing that the car remained in the same place days later. The vehicle, a blue Honda Accord, was registered to Chad Polen of Perry Township. Woodyard said Polen’s car was towed the same day, and Polen’s family is now in possession of it.
Polen was reported missing to the Perry Township Police Department on June 20. According to the Perry Township Police Department, Polen was last seen on June 19, when he was captured leaving his residence at 6:22 a.m. via neighborhood cameras.
Deputies and first responders in Wood County searched the area in Mountwood Park for two days with negative findings, as stated in the release. Woodyard said there were no suspicious items found in or around the car.
Officials say there is no foul play suspected at this time.
This incident is still under investigation by both the Perry Township Police Department and the Wood County Sheriff Department.
