BELPRE — A Meigs County man is facing charges after a high-speed pursuit that ended in a three-vehicle accident Thursday, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
A warrant was requested through Marietta Municipal Court for the arrest of David S. McDaniel, 41, 648 Brick St., Middleport, on charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle and failure to comply with the order/signal of a peace officer.
According to a release from the sheriff’s office, a deputy was dispatched Thursday afternoon to the Dollar General in Reno, where a customer reported his 2010 Subaru Outback had been stolen from the parking lot.
Another deputy spotted the vehicle traveling south on Ohio 7 near Veto Road and attempted a traffic stop. The driver fled at speeds that exceeded 110 mph in a posted 60 mph zone, the release said.
The driver continued in a “careless manner,” eventually striking two vehicles at Ohio 7 and Farson Street, the release said.
The pursuing deputy apprehended and identified McDaniel, who was taken to WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center for medical treatment, according to a criminal complaint provided by the sheriff’s office. His condition was not immediately available Friday afternoon.
The release did not include information on the other vehicles involved or their occupants.
