The Union Sportsmen’s Alliance and the Ohio AFL-CIO will hold a free youth fishing event on Saturday in Buckeye Park.
Youths ages 2-15 will learn fishing skills from volunteers with local union members at the event, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the park on Faye Avenue.
A release from the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance said the event is an opportunity for children from various backgrounds and all physical abilities to enjoy the sport of fishing while learning about the importance of conservation.
The event is free and open to the public, but limited to the first 150 kids to register at the online link https://mariettaohtkf2025.eventbrite.com/ or at the event on Saturday. The youth anglers will receive a free fishing pole. Families are welcome to enjoy a free picnic-style lunch after the event, the release said.
Take Kids Fishing Day is organized by the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance in partnership with the Ohio AFL-CIO and IBEW Local 972.
