DAVISVILLE — A new Amazon operations facility in Wood County is expected to open this year and create dozens of jobs, a representative of the company said Monday.

Amazon Services LLC in December purchased property off Meadville Road in Davisville from the Polymer Alliance Zone for $2,961,834, according to a deed filed with the Wood County Clerk’s office.

An approximately 70,000-square-foot facility was recently built at the site. Wood County Economic Development posted on Facebook that Amazon was looking to hire people for “Amazon Flex” positions delivering packages in their own vehicles, at what the post described as a “last-mile” facility.

On Monday, they shared a flyer for Amazon associate positions.

“We’re excited that Amazon will soon be opening its first operations facilities in West Virginia, including right here in Davisville, which will provide fast delivery and great service to our residents,” Wood County Economic Development Executive Director Lindsey Piersol said.

The exact number of jobs to be created was not available Monday. Asked whether the positions would be full-time, part-time or “flex,” an Amazon spokesperson said there would be a mix.

The plan is for the facility to open this year, the spokesperson said.

“We will continue to work with our great local partners to keep the community apprised of launch updates, hiring initiatives and more,” the spokesperson said.
