PARKERSBURG — Communities across the Mid-Ohio Valley are preparing for a rainy Halloween, with some rescheduling trick-or-treat events as storms approach.

Despite inclement weather in the days ahead, Parkersburg’s trick-or-treat remains scheduled from 6-7:30 p.m. today.

“Trick-or-treat is scheduled and communicated in advance to allow participants to prepare,” Parkersburg Finance Director Eric Jiles said. “Unfortunately the weather does not always cooperate; however, last-minute changes can also have a negative impact on our local businesses and workers who rely on weekend foot-traffic in order to make a living.”

Jiles said Parkersburg will keep the previously planned date and time with the hopes of the weather clearing up.

The City of Belpre and the Little Hocking Fire and Rescue announced on Facebook that trick or treat in those communities is rescheduled for 6-7:30 p.m. Friday due to rain.

The City of Vienna announced on Facebook their trick or treat has been rescheduled to 5-7 p.m. Saturday.

Other communities such as Paden City, New Martinsville and Middlebourne have moved trick or treat to the weekend, according to recent posts on Facebook. Sisterville is scheduled for 6-7 p.m. Tuesday.
