Zonta Club of MOV looking for clothing donations for Unique Boutique event

(File Photo) The Unique Boutique has been going on for more than 40 years and is one of the Zonta Club of the Mid-Ohio Valley’s most successful fundraisers.

Clothing donations for the Zonta Club of the Mid-Ohio Valley’s biannual Unique Boutique are asked to be dropped off at the Reno Community Center on 260 Sandhill Road from 4-8 p.m. Oct. 27-30.

“We ask that people donate men’s, women’s and children’s clothing as well as accessories like purses, bags, shoes and belts,” said Club Treasurer Christine Lisk.

She asked that people bring gently used, lightly worn clothing and items and avoid donating anything with rips or stains on it.

Lisk, who has been a member since the 90s, said this is around the 50th year the club has put on the event. She said it’s the same setup as it has been in the past and that they’ve made the Reno Community Center their home for the event over recent years.

“Once the racks are full, we’ll usually send out a notification on Facebook letting people know the space is full from donations,” said Lisk. “But we’ll continue accepting items and anything that isn’t sold by the end of the event is donated to different groups we work with, we don’t throw anything away.”

The Unique Boutique event is scheduled from 2-8 p.m. on Oct. 31 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 1. Anyone who donates feminine hygiene products has the opportunity to attend the event 30 minutes early on Friday. Hygiene products are donated to Delicates for Dignity.

There will be a $10 bag sale all day Saturday for a 13 gallon trash which can be used to fill up with clothes.

The Unique Boutique is considered the club’s biggest fundraiser of the year and proceeds from the sale goes towards continuing the club’s services.

The primary beneficiary is the Washington State College of Ohio’s scholarship program for non-traditional female students looking to further their education.

Starting at $2.99/week.
