Hannah Greathouse, 17, was raised in the Mid-Ohio Valley and said she wouldn’t be the person she is today without rock music and photography.
She said her grandparents, Lisa and Rich Robinson, weren’t in a band but they played lots of rock when she was growing up.
“I’ve always really liked rock music ever since I was a baby,” said Greathouse. “This summer they took me to a rock festival in Ohio called INKcarceration and I got to see Falling in Reverse and In This Moment, which is my favorite band.”
Greathouse said she sings a little but she’s currently trying to learn how to play the guitar. She said her boyfriend will play the guitar and she’ll accompany the chords with vocals.
“I am in the color guard for the marching band so I do very much have a love for music,” she said.

Greathouse has been a member of the Warren High School color guard for four years and said she has practice for a few hours every single day.
While continuing to be part of the marching band at Warren, she started attending the Washington County Career Center and enrolled in classes at Washington State College of Ohio her junior year.
As a senior at the career center and WSCO, Greathouse has been studying graphic design and video production. She said her dream job is to work in marketing for rock festivals.
“From there I would eventually like to create my own business doing concert marking,” she said.
Greathouse fills her time with various hobbies while attending school, performing in the marching band and participating in a couple of clubs and organizations.

“I am a very involved person so I always like to be busy,” she said.
She starts her day by getting on the bus at Warren and heading to the career center where she attends a few classes for graphic design. She’ll then work on her online classes through WSCO before heading to band practice for the remainder of her afternoon.
Some days look different because she’s also involved in Business Professionals of America, Space Camp at Marietta College, student council, Students Solving Problems and is the class Vice President at the career center and a 4-H camp counselor during the summer.
“I write everything down in my planner and I make sure I have all my times and dates organized,” said Greathouse.
With so many things going on in her life, she finds a way to manage her time and ensure she’s not missing anything.

“I’m doing a lot more than I usually do and so it’s kind of just getting me ready for what it’s going to be like in college,” she said.
With the end of her senior year steadily approaching, she said she’s been applying and looking at over 10 colleges. Although she hasn’t made any final decisions on the school she’s planning to attend, she’s keeping her options open.
Out of all of the things Greathouse is involved in, she said her favorite is being part of BPA because it allows her to be able to focus on topics like entrepreneurship and business presentations.
“Aside from marching band, I joined all of these things two years ago now,” she said. “My favorite part is the people I meet along the way…I just want to get out there and meet new people.”
Greathouse lives by the motto, “go for it because the worst thing anyone can say is no.”

She said she’s learned not to be afraid of stepping out of her comfort zone and trying new things.
Photography is another big part of her daily life and she always has a camera in her hands.
“I love going to skydiving centers with my grandpa and watching everyone jump and taking photos, I love doing all of it,” she said.
Greathouse said her grandpa is involved with the skydiving community and they often spend time at a skydiving center near Huntington where he dives and she takes all the photos.
Even though she hasn’t skydived yet because she isn’t 18, she enjoys watching and photographing the divers.

“I have some photos from Bridge Day which is an event that happens at New River Gorge,” she said. “And I have some photos of just my grandpa jumping.”
Greathouse has also been inspired by her grandma who spends her time gardening. Greathouse does gardening photography as well.
“Photography is definitely one of my passions,” she said. “It’s kind of both for fun and work related.”
Out of all of the things Greathouse is involved in and enjoys, she said the most interesting part about her life is her love for rock music.
