Members of the Marietta Morning Rotary helped assemble two dozen Thanksgiving meal baskets Friday morning at the Levee House as part of an annual partnership with the Marietta Salvation Army.

Mary Segrest of the Morning Rotary said the club has organized the project for four or five years, with members each contributing specific items needed for the baskets. This year, volunteers packed 24 bags that included traditional holiday items, along with donated turkeys.

“Our club partnered with the local Salvation Army to put together some Thanksgiving baskets for local families,” Segrest said. “Every member just kind of picks an item, and we gather bags. We donate turkeys as well, just sharing a little bit of the Thanksgiving cheer with local folks.”

Segrest said roughly 15 volunteers attended Friday’s meeting to help pack the meals.

The distribution of the baskets is handled by Salvation Army Maj. Todd Hughes, who identifies families in need. Segrest said the club does not receive the names of the families but provides the meals based on the list the Salvation Army develops.

Starting at $2.99/week.
