The Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested two Ohio residents Tuesday on drug charges.

Sheriff Mark Warden reported the arrests were made in connection to the seizure of 689.66 grams of methamphetamine and 10.88 grams of crack/cocaine.

Anthony Patrick Kramer, 39, 379 E. Hopocan Avenue, Barberton, and Alisha Marie Wright, 43, 3176 Styx Hill Road, Medina, were both arrested on two counts of trafficking in drugs, a first-degree felony, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, a third-degree felony, and transported to the Washington County Jail.

According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Johnathan Tucker was conducting stationary patrol at approximately 12:48 a.m. near the 8-mile marker of Interstate 77 in Muskingum Township. A black SUV was traveling southbound, with visibly dark window tint, a cracked front windshield and a cover making the license plate unreadable.

Tucker conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Arends Ridge Road and Ohio 821. The driver identified himself as Kramer and the passenger was identified as Wright.

Kramer was asked for consent to search the vehicle, the release said. He stated the vehicle was not his ultimately denying consent.

K9 Ozna was deployed for a free air sniff and indicated the odor of illegal narcotics inside the vehicle, the release said. During the ensuing search of the vehicle, a large amount of suspected methamphetamine and suspected crack/cocaine was located in a plastic bag on the rear floorboard behind the center console, within reach and in the general vicinity of both Kramer and Wright. Both subjects denied knowledge of the suspected drugs stating it was neither of theirs.

The suspected drugs were tested and weighed. Tests were positive for meth and cocaine, the release said.

Once at the Washington County Jail, corrections staff located suspected drugs on Wright while she was being processed, the release said. She was also charged with conveyance into a detention facility.

Wright and Kramer both appeared in Marietta Municipal Court. Wright is being held on $1 million bond, and Kramer is being held without bond.

“This is a great example of proactive policing that keeps dangerous drugs off our streets and out of our community”, stated Chief Deputy Bryan Lockhart.
