A group of volunteers from numerous organizations in Marietta is taking reservations for its annual Christmas Day Feast.

Spokesman Bruce Haas anticipates more than 1,000 meals will be served during the 12th annual dinner on Christmas Day at the Moose Lodge at 312 Franklin St. in Marietta’s West Side where doors will open at 12:30 p.m.

“Actually, we’re preparing for 1,200 meals this year,” he said.

Everything is paid for through private donations by the volunteers, businesses and other benefactors, Haas said. Among the participating groups are 12 churches, veterans, fraternal and community organizations, he said.

More than 100 volunteers organize and serve the dinners, which are dine in or take out, Haas said. Transportation to the dinner also can be arranged, he said.

To order a meal for carry-out, delivery or arrange for transportation to eat in, call 740-760-0277 at any time of the day, Haas said. To help with the preparations, the group requests calls be made by Thursday evening, he said.

Provide a name, phone number and make a reservation to dine in, number of meals for delivery or carry out, or if transportation is needed, he said. An address is needed for transportation, Haas said.

A volunteer will return the calls and confirm the details, he said.

The feast was originally intended to be primarily dine in, but the COVID epidemic changed things, he said. The group anticipates 600 meals will be delivered, 200 will be carry out and the remainder will be dine in at the Moose, Haas said.

Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. Christmas Day. The menu includes the traditional Christmas Day fare of turkey, ham, homemade potatoes, gravy, green beans, pies and fresh fruits, among others.
