Fatal auto accident claims man’s life Friday near Gallipolis

GALLIPOLIS — One man was killed in an accident on Friday in Gallia County, the Gallipolis post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

Dennis Allen, 75, Ravenna, Ohio, was killed on State Route 7 near milepost 30 where the 2002 Dodge Ram truck he was driving went left of center on Route 7 and collided with a 2018 Dodge Ram driven by Bobby Dorton, 60, South Point, Ohio, the patrol said.

Allen was pronounced dead at the scene by the Gallia County Coroner, the patrol said. A passenger, Diana Allen, 73, was taken to the Holzer emergency room, the patrol said.

Dorton was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment, the patrol said. His truck went off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail, the patrol said.

Allen, wearing a seatbelt, went across the right side of the road where he struck a sign and wooden fence, the patrol said. Two other vehicles were struck by debris and both traveled off the right side of the road, the patrol said.

The road was closed for about hours, the patrol said.

The accident happened around 12:45 p.m and remains under investigation, the patrol said.
