Wood County Board of Education holding special meeting today

PARKERSBURG — The Wood County Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 3 p.m. today in the Bailey Room at the school board office at 13th and Plum streets.

The meeting was originally called to discuss a contract for the removal or movement of dirt at the Lubeck Elementary School project, but that will now be discussed at a later meeting, according to board Vice President Judy Johnson.

Everyone was available for a meeting today, she said.

Items on the special meeting agenda include payment of bills for projects at the Erickson All Sports Facility that are financed by the bond issue approved in May 2022.

The approval by the end of the year “helps us keep things moving,” Superintendent Christie Willis said.

On the agenda:

– A payment of $702,919.08 to Turf Alliance LLC in the construction of the baseball and softball complex at the Erickson All-Sports Facility.

– A change order in the Parkersburg South ball field project for a road bore for a water line and a transformer pad. Cost is $36,737.

The state Division of Highways is requiring a road bore instead of an open-cut trench with asphalt repair to install the waterline under Murray Lane, according to the agenda. The change order is to compensate for additional labor and materials due to the change of installation method.

– Approval of the Williamstown High Restroom & Concession Fee Adjustment 1 of $4,134.75 to be paid to Pickering Associates due to the project going past the substantial completion date. The project was not part of the bond issue.

– Approval of the agreement of a lease agreement with Hope Gas to install and maintain the Measuring and Regulation Station at Lincoln Elementary School.

Starting at $2.99/week.
