PARKERSBURG — The Actors Guild of Parkersburg will open its production of “Radium Girls” tonight, bringing a powerful, fact-based drama about labor rights and workplace safety to the Mid-Ohio Valley.
Performances are scheduled for tonight, Saturday, Jan. 23 and 24 at 7:30 p.m., with matinee performances Sunday and Jan. 25 at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets are available online at actors-guild.com or at the box office beginning one hour prior to each performance, pending availability.
Based on true events, Radium Girls tells the story of young women in the 1920s who were poisoned by radium while working at a watch-dial factory and later fought for justice against corporate and government systems. Their efforts helped spark major reforms in labor laws and workplace safety standards in the United States.
“Radium Girls is not just a period piece — it’s a warning and a call to action,” director Lori Clark said. “It asks what happens when profit is placed above people, and why speaking out, even when it’s dangerous, is the only way real change ever happens.”
