The 11th annual BrAva Mom Prom that raises money for childhood cancer research will be held on April 17 at a new venue in Marietta.

The prom, hosted by BrAva Fight, the Mid-Ohio Valley’s childhood cancer awareness and funding organization, will be held at the Tower Conference & Event Center, 400 Tennis Center Drive. Tickets for the event go on sale at 7 p.m. March 1.

“That will change the feel of our event,” Erin Roberts, vice president of BrAva Fight, said.

Previous proms have been held at the Washington County Fairgrounds.

About 500 people attended the event last year when $73,000 was raised. Funds, after expenses, are donated to CureSearch, a national organization focused on research into childhood cancer treatment, and to local families.

“We donate to local families that have been affected by childhood cancer,” Roberts said.

BrAva has donated more than $700,000 to CureSearch and families since the prom was created.

Mom Prom will feature a deejay from Premiere Productions, a coronation honoring mothers whose children have battled childhood cancer, a raffle and food and drink from local vendors. Premiere Productions has been involved with the Mom Prom since it started in 2014.

Major sponsors of the prom so far are Amy’s Flower Shoppe, Astorg Auto, Kesterson Cleaners & Launderers, Lisa’s Sweet Stop, Melissa Rose Photography, Premier Productions, the Valley List and Wilky’s Sports Bar.

“We are looking forward to working with the Tower & Event Center staff to host this annual event,” Roberts said. “We are excited about the many features offered in the new facility and believe we can even further raise the prestige of our event, which benefits the cause.”

Guests may return to the event page on Humanitix beginning March 8 to purchase raffle tickets and luminaries.
