Vintage Valentines: Combating Loneliness

PARKERSBURG — Vintage Valentines: Combating Loneliness, a free program focused on addressing loneliness often experienced by older adults, will be held Feb. 12 by the Young at Heart senior ministry at the First United Methodist Church, 1001 Juliana St., Parkersburg.Doors will open at 10:45 a.m. with the program held from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. with a light lunch to be served. The program is free, but donations will be appreciated.Reservations are required no later than noon Thursday by calling the church at 304-428-0111 or emailing fumcjuliana@wvdsl.net. Office hours are: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and 9 a.m.-noon Friday.The program will be presented by Shauna Hyde, pastor at the St. Paul’s United Methodist and Christ United Methodist. Hyde is a graduate of the United Theological Seminary and has a PhD in pastoral care and counseling.Her doctoral dissertation was on faith and trauma and Hyde has conducted special workshop courses on grief counseling.Young at Heart programs are partially supported by a grant from the West Virginia Central Credit Union.
