From staff reports
The City of Marietta Public Works Department’s Street Division began street sweeping operations on Monday in designated areas throughout the city.
Crews will start on Front Street and continue through Tenth Street, initially focusing on one side of the street before returning to complete the opposite side. Work will begin on the even-numbered (east) side of the street, with plans to sweep the alternate side afterward.
Residents are encouraged to assist by moving parked vehicles to the opposite side of the street when possible. This will allow crews to complete the work more efficiently and thoroughly.
Assistant Superintendent Christy King said the division is working to manage challenges caused by on-street parking and debris accumulation.
“We have an issue with people parking on it, so they’re trying to shut the streets down to get the cars moved so they can do a better job,” King said.
The city anticipates completion of sweeping in the initial areas by Friday, weather permitting.
