From staff reports

An organist who has built a following on social media will perform Saturday at Christ United Methodist Church.

Wesley Hall has been recognized by The Diapason — an international journal focused on the organ, harpsichord, carillon and church music — as a “20 Under 30” leader in the field and is known for bridging the gap between the historical traditional and modern audiences, according to a release from the church. He will perform as part of the Ziegler Concert Series, which is dedicated to bringing high-quality musical performances to the Marietta community, with an emphasis on the sacred and classical.

Hall holds an artist diploma from the Oberlin Conservatory and is a graduate of the Yale School of Music and Institute of Sacred Music. His videos on TikTok and social media under the handle @Westpiper are meant to demystify the pipe organ for a new generation of listeners, the release says.

“We are thrilled to bring an artist of Wesley’s caliber to Marietta,” said Steve Brown, Christ United Methodist organist and Ziegler event coordinator. “His energy and virtuosity bring the pipe organ to life in a way that resonates with both long-time classical music lovers and those experiencing the instrument for the first time.”

The program will feature a diverse selection of works designed to showcase the full tonal power of the custom-built Klais organ at the church, the release said.

The concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday at Christ United Methodist Church, 301 Wooster St., Marietta.

There is no charge for admission, but a free-will offering will be accepted.
