Washington County Historical Society to host Pioneer Day Dinner April 7

The Washington County Historical Society will host the annual Pioneer Dinner to celebrate Marietta’s 238th birthday April 7. The dinner will start at 4 p.m. and is held at the American Legion at 9 Wooster Street. Doors open at 4 p.m. and dinner is served at 5 p.m.

The celebration dinner is open to members of the historical society and the public.

The event recognizes the 48 pioneers who settled in Marietta and initiated the Northwest Territory’s westward expansion.

The program will include presentations by WCHS Archivist Mindy Cayton and will highlight a reenactment of the pioneers’ travels from Massachusetts to Marietta.

Guests can expect to view historic photographs and movie reels from the 1938 Northwest Territory Sesquicentennial Celebration.

The dinner will be catered from Parkhurst Dining. Tickets are $50 for members and $60 for nonmembers and reservations are due by March 28.
