Sewer work planned in Marietta
Contractors hired by the city of Marietta are scheduled to perform sanitary sewer work today through Friday as part of the Colegate inflow and infiltration project. Work is scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Crews are expected to place door hangers at homes where work will be performed with additional details for residents. The work will include sanitary sewer main line cured-in-place pipe lining, manhole repairs or replacement and sanitary sewer main line spot repairs. Areas where work is scheduled include Merryhill Street between 104 and 112 Merryhill St.; Cisler Drive between 1213 and 1223 Cisler Drive; Colegate Woods Drive between 100 and 101 Colegate Woods Drive; Brentwood Street; Colegate Drive; and Academy Drive. Traffic will be reduced to one lane while crews are working in the affected areas. Contractors listed for the project include Insituform, Border Control and ART, Advanced Rehabilitation Technology.
WSCO Board of Trustees meeting

Friends of the Library Used Book Pop-up Sale
From 9 a.m. to noon Saturday a “deep discount” pop-up used book sale featuring hardback books for 50 cents and 4 paperbacks for $1 will be sponsored by the Friends of the Washington County Library at the “Little Yellow House”, 617 Fifth St., Marietta.
Juneteenth Open House
The Farmers Castle Museum, operated by the Belpre Historical Society, will have an open house from 1-4 p.m. Saturday in recognition of Juneteenth. The Underground Railroad in Southeastern Ohio, a permanent exhibit that details the rise of the freedom movement along the Ohio River shoreline of Washington County in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, will be featured. Chicken and ham dinner
St. Bernard’s Catholic Church Parish will hold its June Social with a chicken and ham dinner from 4-7 p.m. June 24, at the social hall, 307 7th St., Beverly. An adult meal is $15 and a child meal is $6 for ages 10 and under. Take-out meals are available. A meal includes chicken, ham, side dishes, dessert and beverages. Children’s games and bingo begin at 5 p.m. A raffle is also being held for many items, including a large Ohio State University-themed quilt. Chicken barbecue dinner
The Graysville and Community Volunteer Fire Department, 38851 State Route 26, Graysville, will hold a chicken barbecue dinner at 4:30 p.m. June 27. The menu includes chicken, baked potatoes, green beans, coleslaw, rolls, desserts and drinks.
Samuel R. Cook Safetytown program
The Annual Samuel R. Cook Safetytown program will be held from June 15-25, at Phillips School, 300 Pike St., Marietta. This comprehensive nine day safety training program is available free of charge to all area children who will be 5 years old by August 1, or have just completed kindergarten but have not yet attended Safetytown. Professional teachers and well-trained instructors help children learn important safety concepts such as automobile and bicycle safety; water, electrical and chemical hazards; fire safety, pet safety and much more. Children may attend either the morning session from 9 a.m. to noon, or the afternoon session from 1-4 p.m. Applications are available at each local elementary school. Lasagna dinner
