Sewer work on Franklin Street
The Water Reclamation Department will be performing work on the 400 block of Franklin Street to maintain, repair or replace the sanitary sewer. Franklin Street will be closed to traffic between Putnam and Lancaster Streets. There will be no parking on either side of the street from 413 Franklin St. to Lancaster Street. The road will be closed until the repairs are completed. This may necessitate the use of heavy equipment. If you have concerns about above or below-ground work, landscaping or any other questions about the sanitary sewer work, call the Water Reclamation Plant Superintendent Chris Adams at 740-373-3858 ext. 3801, or Collections Foreman Alex Sullivan at 740-350-7969. Work is scheduled between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through July 2.

Chicken and ham dinner
St. Bernard’s Catholic Church Parish will hold its June Social with a chicken and ham dinner from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the social hall, 307 7th St., Beverly. An adult meal is $15 and a child meal is $6 for ages 10 and under. Take-out meals are available. A meal includes chicken, ham, side dishes, dessert and beverages. Children’s games and bingo begin at 5 p.m. A raffle is also being held for many items, including a large Ohio State University-themed quilt. Samuel R. Cook Safetytown program
The Annual Samuel R. Cook Safetytown program will be held through Thursday at Phillips School, 300 Pike St., Marietta. This comprehensive nine day safety training program is available free of charge to all area children who will be 5 years old by August 1, or have just completed kindergarten but have not yet attended Safetytown. Professional teachers and well-trained instructors help children learn important safety concepts such as automobile and bicycle safety; water, electrical and chemical hazards; fire safety, pet safety and much more. Children may attend either the morning session from 9 a.m. to noon, or the afternoon session from 1-4 p.m. Applications are available at each local elementary school. The Operations committee of the Warren Local Board of Education will meet at 5 p.m. Thursday at Warren High School, in Warrior Room, Building 6, 130 Warrior Drive, Vincent.
Belpre City School District BOE meeting
The regular monthly meeting of the Belpre City School District will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, at the Stone Administration/Early Learning Center, 2014 Rockland Ave., Belpre. This is a meeting of the Belpre City School District Board of Education in public to conduct the School District’s business and is not to be considered a public community meeting. There is a time for public participation during the meeting as indicated in the agenda.
Lasagna dinner

The Graysville and Community Volunteer Fire Department, 38851 State Route 26, Graysville, will hold a chicken barbecue dinner at 4:30 p.m. June 27. The menu includes chicken, baked potatoes, green beans, coleslaw, rolls, desserts and drinks.
Public steak fry
Beverly American Legion Post 389 will hold a public steak fry from 5-8 p.m. June 27, at the Post Home, 114 Fifth St., Beverly. A meal is $15 and includes steak, a baked potato, salad bar and a roll.
Community breakfast buffet
Matamoras #374, Free and Accepted Masons, 301 Main St., New Matamoras, is holding a community breakfast buffet from 8-11 a.m. July 4. The breakfast includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, sausage gravy, hash browns, biscuits, pancakes, cinnamon roll, orange juice, and coffee. The public is invited to attend. Carry out is available. The suggested donation is $7 per person. Profits from the breakfast support state and local charities. Matamoras #374 is designated as an IRS 501C10 charitable organization.
Community Harvest Market and Garden
A community Harvest Market and Garden will start from 4-7 p.m. July 8, at 1311 Dode Ave., New Matamoras. The youth-led garden will provide fresh produce to the community at a weekly market held every Wednesday. There will also be vendors selling baked goods, honey and other treats for the community. The market and garden are supported by the Creating Healthy Communities grant, a program of the Washington County Health Department.
Kids’ Night Out
Kids’ Night Out will be from 6-8 p.m. July 24 and Aug. 14, at First Baptist Church of Marietta. This is a free event hosted by the NextGen Kids Ministry. Children in kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to join in for an evening of crafts, games and snacks with their friends. Joy Story Vacation Bible School
Joy Story Vacation Bible School will be held from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 3-6, at First Baptist Church of Marietta. VBS is a free event and hosted by the NextGen Kids Ministry.
