Annual Beverly/Waterford Homecoming
The Annual Beverly/Waterford Homecoming presented by Russell Chadwick American Legion Post 389 will be today and Saturday, at Dodge Park. Today, there will be a garden tractor pull with registration at 5 p.m. and the pull starting at 6 p.m. Also today will be music by the Matt Hansell Band from 7-10 p.m. On Saturday, the park opens at noon, the King of the Asphalt Tractor Pull will be at 1 p.m., free kid rides will be from noon to 2 p.m., the hot dog eating contest will be at 4 p.m. and there will be music by Jesse Lang and friends from 5-8:30 p.m. Every day there will be food, bingo, games, children’s carnival rides and a raffle at the end of each evening. Fireworks will be Saturday behind Fort Frye High School.
Community breakfast buffet
Matamoras #374, Free and Accepted Masons, 301 Main St., New Matamoras, is holding a community breakfast buffet from 8-11 a.m. Saturday. The breakfast includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, sausage gravy, hash browns, biscuits, pancakes, cinnamon roll, orange juice, and coffee. The public is invited to attend. Carry out is available. The suggested donation is $7 per person. Profits from the breakfast support state and local charities. Matamoras #374 is designated as an IRS 501C10 charitable organization.
Lower Muskingum Historical Society meeting
The Lower Muskingum Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Beverly Library. The meeting is open to members and the public. Contact 740-236-8757 for further information.
Wolf Creek BOE special meeting
The Wolf Creek Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Waterford High School Library. The purpose of the meeting is to hire personnel.
Community Harvest Market and Garden
A community Harvest Market and Garden will start from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at 1311 Dode Ave., New Matamoras. The youth-led garden will provide fresh produce to the community at a weekly market held every Wednesday. There will also be vendors selling baked goods, honey and other treats for the community. The market and garden are supported by the Creating Healthy Communities grant, a program of the Washington County Health Department.
Jigsaw puzzle event
First Presbyterian Church, 501 Fourth St., Marietta, is inviting anyone who loves doing jigsaw puzzles to come and help put four different 1000-piece puzzles together from 2-5 p.m. July 12. You choose whichever one you want to work on and join in the fun and fellowship with others. There is no charge, but you are welcome to bring a snack to share. All ages are welcome to come, and the church is handicap accessible. Enter through the church parking lot door.
Buckeye Hills Regional Council workshop
Village and township officials, along with managers of publicly owned utilities, are invited to join Buckeye Hills Regional Council (BHRC) for a workshop designed to help applicants navigate the Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) Fiscal Year 2028 Round 41 Small Government Program funding process. Participants may attend in person at 2:30 p.m. July 14, at the BHRC office, 2585 Glendale Road, Marietta, or join virtually. The workshop will provide an overview of program requirements, application procedures, and resources available to support successful project submissions. This workshop will specifically cover the Small Government portion of OPWC. To apply for Small Government funding, applicants must submit an application for the regular SCIP/LTIP funding. Graysville Community Volunteer Fire Department annual carnival
The Graysville Community Volunteer Fire Department, 38851 State Route 26, Graysville, will hold its annual carnival July 18. A variety supper will be served starting at 4 p.m. Mike Calovini will provide music from 4-6:30 p.m. and 7:30-8:30 p.m. The annual parade will be at 7 p.m. A raffle and country store with a drawing will be held at 8 p.m. There will also be games for the youngsters.
Lowell-Adams Fire Department Ice Cream Social
The Lowell-Adams Fire Department Ice Cream Social will be held at 4 p.m. July 18, on Buell Island in Lowell. There will be food, raffles, hayrides, a car/truck show, a tractor show, a bike show, a People’s Choice award show, a country store and a live auction. If you would like to donate to the country store, call 740-984-2412, or drop off your items at the fire department at 7 p.m. on Thursdays, or drop them off at the island the day of.
Kids’ Night Out
Kids’ Night Out will be from 6-8 p.m. July 24 and Aug. 14, at First Baptist Church of Marietta. This is a free event hosted by the NextGen Kids Ministry. Children in kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to join in for an evening of crafts, games and snacks with their friends. Joy Story Vacation Bible School
Joy Story Vacation Bible School will be held from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 3-6, at First Baptist Church of Marietta. VBS is a free event and hosted by the NextGen Kids Ministry. Children from three years of age to fifth grade are invited to join Woody, Buzz and the gang to learn more about the life of Jesus through Bible stories, crafts, games and adventures. Warren High School Class of 2001 25-year class reunion
The Warren High School Class of 2001 will hold its 25-year class reunion from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Aug. 15, at The Galley in Marietta. There will be light appetizers and a cash bar. Cost is $25 per person.
