Natural Resources Assistance Council committee meeting
The Fiscal Year 2027 (Round 21) committee meeting of the Natural Resources Assistance Council will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Buckeye Hills Regional Council, 2585 Glendale Road, Marietta. The purpose of this meeting is to review the Fiscal Year 2027 (Round 21) Clean Ohio applications for eligibility. Lawrence Township Board of Trustees meeting
The Lawrence Township Board of Trustees will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the township garage located at the old Lawrence Elementary School.
Rummage Sale
St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 320 2nd St., Marietta, will be having a Rummage Sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday inside the parish hall.
Rib-eye steak dinner

"Fall Into a Good Book" Used Book Sale
Join the Friends of the Marietta Library for the “Fall Into a Good Book” used book sale from 5-7 p.m. Friday (For members only or join at the door), from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday ($3 per bag of books; bags will be provided), at the “Little Yellow House”, 615 Fifth St., Marietta. Stock up for your winter reading or find holiday season gifts by shopping for books in a variety of genres for adults and children. Cash and checks accepted. No scanners allowed.
Republican Party golf scramble
The Washington County Republican Party will hold its sixth annual golf scramble on Saturday at Oxbow Golf Course. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The fee for the four-person scramble is $300 and the package includes greens fee, cart, refreshments, snacks and a steak dinner. Hole sponsorships also are available. Sausage and pancake breakfast
Oak Grove Fire and EMS, 102 Oak Grove Lane, Marietta, will be hosting a sausage and pancake breakfast from 8-11 a.m. Saturday. Cost will be a donation.
Fall Rummage Sale
The Beverly Methodist Women will have their Fall Rummage Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 700 Park St., Beverly. People can fill a bag for $5. Larger items will be priced separately. The Hot Dog Cart will be on site with food.
Steak fry

Burnout Resilience Training
Washington County Family and Children First and the Washington County Behavioral Health Board will be offering a free Burnout Resilience Training for Family Services Professionals from 9 a.m. to noon (Full Session) and 1-2:30 p.m. (Extended Session, for those who wish to stay) Oct. 15, at the Broughton Community Building, 615 Ohio 821, Marietta. Fall/Holiday Craft Show
Gilman United Methodist Church, 312 Gilman Ave., Marietta, will be having their Fall/Holiday Craft Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 17, in the Fellowship Hall with lots of handmade items and a bake sale. Soup, sandwiches and a taco in a bag will be available for purchase.
Hometown Craft Show
The Hometown Craft Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Crafters will come from West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania with 100 booths of seasonal home decor, florals, fresh baked goods, pottery, wood items, candles and clothing. Admission is free.
Heritage Day Event
A Heritage Day Event honoring veterans and celebrating America 250 will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 17, at Twin City Opera House. The performance of a 50-minute play called The Wall: A Pilgrimage is sponsored by Opera House Players. A Chinese Auction will also take place during the festival and participants do not need to be present for the drawings. Winners may pick up items at the Opera House during the Sunday matinee.
Annual Turkey Supper
Fearing Township Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual Turkey Supper at 4 p.m. Oct. 17, at 1975 Stanleyville Road, Whipple. A meal for adults is $12 and $6 for children and includes turkey or ham supper with mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, coffee or tea and a choice of dessert.
Jigsaw meet
The First Presbyterian Church, 501 Fourth St., Marietta, is inviting anyone who loves doing jigsaw puzzles to help assemble four 1000-piece puzzles. Participants can choose the puzzle and have fellowship with others. The event is from 2-5 p.m. Oct. 18. Participation is free, but snacks to share are encouraged. Enter through the church parking lot door.
WSCO Board of Trustees
The Washington State College of Ohio Board of Trustees will hold its monthly meeting at 4 p.m. Oct. 19, in Room H108 of the Main Building.
Dorothy Peppel Style Show and Salad Supper
The Pioneer Ladies Civitan will hold the Dorothy Peppel Style Show and Salad Supper at 6 p.m. Oct. 20, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 308 Franklin St., Marietta. Doors open at 5 p.m., with admission being $15 per person. The event is sponsored by Peoples Insurance with fashions by Threadz Boutique and the Purse Auction by Williams Auctioneer. Door prizes will be drawn all night.
Free book study
First Presbyterian Church of Marietta will hold a free book study on Joann Nesser's "Contemplative Prayer: Praying when the Well Runs Dry” from 5-7 p.m. for four consecutive Thursdays from Oct. 22 to Nov. 12 in the church's fellowship hall. English Professor Nicole Livengood will guide the discussions. The book will be provided at no cost and a light meal will be served at the beginning of the class. Makers Market
Pioneer Presbyterian Church, 873 Farson St., Belpre, is sponsoring a Makers Market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 24. Proceeds from the market will help support the church's school mission in Africa, Building a Better Burkina. Halloween Square Dance
A Halloween Square Dance will be held from 7-10:30 p.m. Oct. 24, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church Hall, Ohio 145, Hariettsville. The band performing will be Pickin On Country, and there will be an unmasking at 7:30 p.m. There will also be prizes, food, a country store and raffle. Admission is $5 per person, with children under 10 admitted for free.
KARDEX employee reunion
Former KARDEX employees will have their annual reunion on Oct. 25, at the American Legion in Marietta. Chicken, coffee and table service are provided. You may bring a covered dish to share, but that is not required. Lunch begins at 12:30 p.m.
Annual Reagan Day Dinner
Washington County Republicans Executive Committee will host the annual Reagan Day Dinner on Oct. 26, at The Tower Event and Conference Center. The featured speaker will be gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. He will be joined at the podium by state office candidates Rob McColley, Frank LaRose and Justice Dan Hawkins. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., with Ramaswamy speaking at 5:30 pm and dinner service at 6 pm. Zonta Club Fall Unique Boutique
The Zonta Club of the MOV will hold its Fall Unique Boutique Clothing Sale from 2-8 p.m. Oct. 30 and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 31, at the Reno Community Center, 260 Sandhill Road, Marietta. Donations of men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, coats, shoes, accessories and more will be accepted from 4-8 p.m. Oct. 26-29, at the sale site. Early donations may be dropped off at McCarthy Real Estate or Advantage Real Estate during their regular business hours. Arrive with a feminine hygiene product at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 30 and you will get a half hour of early shopping before the sale is open to the public. There will be an all-day bag sale on Oct. 31 where you can stuff a 13-gallon trash bag for $10. Concessions will be available. All proceeds will go to benefit the Zonta Club's service projects. 39th annual Halloween "at the Park"
The 39th annual Halloween "at the Park" will be at noon, Oct. 31, at the poultry building at the fairgrounds. There will be free food, treats and games. The event is sponsored by community civic groups such as Kiwanis, Marietta Civitan Club, Marietta Noon Lions, Marietta Rotary Clubs, Pioneer Ladies Civitan, Zonta Club, Little Caesars Pizza, City of Marietta, local merchants, area businesses, private donors and many volunteers.
Howlin' for the HSOV
The Humane Society of the Ohio Valley will be hosting a fundraising event at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 6, in the Ballroom of the Lafayette Hotel. The event will have live music featuring the River City Rodeo and Moon & the Shiners. Admission is a suggested $10 donation or a large bag of Purina Dog or Cat Chow.
GriefShare program
The GriefShare program will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. through Nov. 12, with a special program at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 19 called "Surviving the Holidays". This 13-week program will be offered at Gilman United Methodist Church, 312 Gilman Ave., Marietta. Each week, you will view a 30-minute video filled with helpful guidance, discuss grief-related issues, and gain personal recovery tips through your workbook.
