Ohio Friend of 4-H award presented
The McLeish Auction Service of Marietta was honored with the Ohio Friend of 4-H at the annual 2021 4-H Volunteer Recognition Celebration.
According to a press release, McLeish Auction Services is a great example of giving back to their community. Their tireless efforts to bring the best price for livestock auctions has helped many 4-H youth raise funds for future 4-H projects, college, their first car and more. Washington County is unique because there are three fairs and three separate livestock auctions.
The press release further stated Charlie and Keelan McLeish, along with their team, are eager to assist with the sales. Not only do the McLeishs’ serve as the auctioneers, but they also provide their own ring crew who work the crowd while taking bids, and clerking agents. McLeish Auction Services have partnered with local fair boards and OSU Extension to make the sales run fast and efficiently for more than 20 years. They also volunteer for the annual Washington County Endowment Dinner.
These funds are used to purchase supplies for programs, camp, outdoor education, and support for youth participating in national and statewide camps and trips.
The Friend of 4-H award recognizes individuals, families and businesses which support the Ohio 4-H Program either financially or philanthropically at the local, state or national level. The award is sponsored by Honorable Frederick Pepple and Kathryn Pepple. The awards presentation was held on March 11 and can be viewed online at ohio4h.org/about/ohio-4-h-conference/2021-award-winners.
