Bob and Peggy Byers

Bob and Peggy Byers will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday.

They were married on June 5, 1976, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Churchtown. Bob is the son of the late George W. and Gwendolyn Byers. He retired as parts director from Matheny Motors in Parkersburg. Peggy worked as a computer supervisor at BFGoodrich and the RJF International Corporation. She retired from the Washington County Board of Elections.

They have two children. David (Angela) is an infectious disease doctor for Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, with two daughters, Leighton and Lyla. Elizabeth (James Ruble) is the grants director for AASA, the School Superintendents Association. They are the parents of Alex, Kaylin, Abby, John and Amelia.

An open house to celebrate the Byers’ anniversary will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Churchtown Knights of Columbus Hall. No gifts please.
