Man hospitalized after Reno crash

From staff reports

A Chester, W.Va., man was transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital after an accident Wednesday morning on Ohio 7 near Reno.

Thomas Higgins, age unknown, was traveling southbound on Ohio 7 when his 2011 Ford Ranger went left of center and off the left side of the road before striking the guardrail, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The vehicle went into the East Lawn Memorial Park Evergreen Cemetery and struck a tree, then a gravestone.

Higgins was trapped inside the truck, but was extricated by members of the Reno Volunteer Fire Department. He was taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital and he was reportedly alert and talking at the scene.

The investigation by the Marietta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol revealed he was wearing his seatbelt, which helped minimize his injuries.
