Reports/Ohio State Highway Patrol
¯ Christopher D. Gage, 29, of 1650 Beach Hilaman Road, Stockport, was northwest on Ohio 377 in Penn Township on Oct. 31, negotiating a left curve. He crossed the centerline in his 2016 Polaris RZR before sliding off the left side of the roadway, striking a fence and overturning. No citations were issued.
¯ A two car crash occurred Nov. 2 on U.S. 50 in Belpre Township. Amanda Jackson, 43, of 780 McGill Road, Vincent, and Ezekiel David Reeder, 16, of 23 Ross Lane, Belpre, were westbound on the ramp from Ohio 339 to U.S. 50. Jackson slowed for other traffic. Reeder failed to maintain an assured clear distance and attempted to pass Jackson in his 2006 Hyundai Elantra. He struck Jackson's 2010 GMC Terrain, before spinning and striking a guardrail. Jackson's vehicle spun and came to rest, partially blocking the on ramp. Reeder was cited for not maintaining an assured clear distance ahead.

¯ The school resource officer was contacted Nov. 3 by the Marietta High School vice principal in reference to seven auditorium chairs being damaged by four students. Charges are forthcoming.
¯ Mark Swaney was arrested Nov. 3 on warrants for a burglary that occurred the previous week. Upon being brought to headquarters for an interview, Swaney claimed he was having a medical episode. Upon discharge at the hospital, he tried to run away. He didn't get far and was apprehended and transported to the Washington County Jail for incarceration on the warrants. He will also face additional charges of escape.
¯ The Marietta Police Department began an investigation Nov. 4 into a sex crime involving a juvenile. This case is under investigation.
¯ A patrolman was dispatched Nov. 4 to the Marietta Police Department in reference to an identity fraud complaint. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the complainant, who advised he received a change of address form from the postal service. The complainant advised he did not complete the form for the change. He also found three credit cards attempted to be opened in his name. The case remains under further investigation.
¯ An officer was dispatched Nov. 4 to the Marietta Police Department in reference to a theft case. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the complainant who advised an employee had taken items from clients for a Halloween costume. This case remains under investigation.
¯ An officer was dispatched Friday to Dawes Circle in reference to criminal damaging that took place overnight. Through the investigation, another connected criminal damaging was discovered. Both incidents are under investigation.
¯ A patrolman was dispatched Saturday to Walmart in reference to a theft. On the patrolman's arrival, he learned that a woman had attempted to leave the store without paying for several items. She was advised she would receive a summons in the mail for theft.
¯ A patrolman responded Saturday to a 911 hangup call which came back to a Pike Street address. Upon arrival and after investigation, it was determined that a domestic violence incident occurred and the suspect had fled the residence prior to the officer's arrival. The investigation is continuing.
¯ Units were dispatched Sunday to 114 Franklin St. in reference to an unwanted house guest. Victor Whittekind was removed and trespassed from the property. He was also served with a warrant for failing to appear in court on the original charge of driving under suspension.
¯ An officer was dispatched Sunday to Walmart in reference to a shoplifter. A woman who has been previously caught stealing there seven times before was again caught. A summons was requested for theft and criminal trespass.
¯ The Marietta Police Department initiated an investigation on Monday of sexual assault on a juvenile that occurred months earlier.
¯ A patrolman was dispatched Monday to a Channel Lane address in reference to a disturbance. It was learned a man had held his girlfriend against her will in his condemned trailer for two days, beating and molesting her. Robert Jonathan Huffman was arrested for abduction, gross sexual imposition, domestic violence and criminal trespass.
¯ On Monday, a woman reported her concerns about the medical care her husband was receiving at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

¯ A sergeant began an investigation Saturday in Adams Township regarding a garage/building being entered and items removed.
¯ A deputy was dispatched Saturday to Dye Street, Newport Township, to a 911 call reporting a verbal argument. It was reported that threats were made about a juvenile by James Benjamin Chambers III. After conducting the investigation, it was determined that Chambers would be placed under arrest.
Chambers had left the area and attempts to locate him met with legal results. A warrant was requested and issued for Chambers, 31, of Newport, for criminal damaging, domestic violence, and menacing.
¯ A lieutenant responded Sunday to Forshey Road, Marietta Township, to a report of a man in the roadway yelling and cussing. The lieutenant located William Henry Thomas, who apologized for being loud. Thomas emptied his pockets and was in possession of a bowl, which he stated he smoked marijuana out of. An aspirin bottle was located, which he stated he kept his marijuana in, however it was empty. A citation will be issued to Thomas, 52, of 30 Coal Run Road, Marietta, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
¯ A deputy began an investigation Sunday into damage done to property in Independence Township.

¯ Robert Jonathan Huffman, 40, of Marietta, was arrested for probation violation, domestic violence, criminal trespassing, misdemeanors, and abduction, a felony.
¯ James David Warner, 40, of Marietta, was arrested for probation violation, a misdemeanor.
¯ Tracy Bryan Bronson, Jr., 31, of Marietta, was arrested for parole violation, a felony.
