Highway Patrol
¯ A two-vehicle crash occurred Jan. 24 on Ohio 7 in Warren Township. Ashton Paul Myers, 19, of 132 Oak Drive, Little Hocking, and Carrie Lynne Richards, 62, of 1105 Barth Road, Belpre, were traveling southbound on Ohio 7. Myers failed to maintain assured clear distance ahead in his 1999 Honda Civic, striking Richards' 2017 Toyota RAV4. Myers was cited for not maintaining an assured clear distance ahead.
¯ Jeffrey Allan Radabaugh, 59, of 77 Everson Road, Belpre, and Mark Richard Goubeaud, 56, of 327 Knob Drive, Vincent, were eastbound Jan. 24 on Township Road 1245 in Dunham Township. Radabaugh, driving a 1999 Dodge Ram owned by the Dunham Township trustees, improperly backed into Goubeaud's 2013 Subaru Outback. No citations were issued.
¯ Denise Elizabeth Czekalski, 37, of 495 N. Riverview Road, Malta, was traveling northbound Jan. 24 on Ohio 60 in Waterford Township when her 2005 Dodge Durango went off the left side of the roadway, striking a tree. She was cited for operating a vehicle without being in reasonable control of it.
¯ Brady G. Racy, 19, of 707 Ohio Ave., Belpre, was northbound Jan. 28 on Ohio 7 in Dunham Township when his 2017 Ford Focus went off the right side of the roadway, striking a guardrail. No citations were issued..

¯ A patrolman responded Jan. 25 to Walmart in reference to a theft. Through an investigation, it was learned a man had stolen $48.76 worth of outdoor and craft merchandise. He had also previously been provided a trespass order from Walmart. The patrolman requested a summons be issued to the man for theft and criminal trespass.
¯ An officer assisted on a traffic stop Jan. 25 in the 300 block of Pike Street. During the stop, the officer seized marijuana from two male subjects in the vehicle. Both Casey and Devon Taylor were cited for drug abuse and were given a court date of Feb. 7.
¯ An officer was dispatched Jan. 25 to Walmart in reference to a theft complaint. While en route, officers were advised that the woman had fled on foot and got into a white pick-up. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, where the woman was located. During a search of the vehicle, a baggie containing bulk amount of suspected methamphetamine and several items of paraphernalia/drug trafficking equipment were found. The woman will be summoned on a charge of theft of $109.71 in merchandise and criminal trespass. The suspected drugs will be sent to the Ohio BCI crime lab for proper identification and possible charges will arise from that.
¯ A patrolman was dispatched Jan. 26 to 456 Pike St. in reference to a theft complaint. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the store staff and the suspect. The store advised they did not wish to pursue charges and only wanted the suspect to be trespassed from the store. The suspect was trespassed and left the store.
¯ A patrolman met Jan. 26 with a complainant who wished to report two damaged dumpsters behind a local business.
¯ An officer was dispatched to the Lafayette Hotel Jan. 26 in reference to the theft of services. The parties paid the hotel bill of $1,551 and left the hotel without incident.
¯ An officer investigated the report of an incident of road rage Jan. 26, in which the antenna of a car was damaged.
¯ An officer was dispatched Jan. 27 to the 200 block of Front Street in reference to a disturbance at 246 Front St., the offices of U.S. Congressman Bill Johnson. Through the investigation, Aaron Deuschle was arrested for menacing and drug paraphernalia.
¯ A patrolman responded Jan. 27 to Walmart in reference to a shoplifting that occurred on Jan. 25. Through an investigation, it was revealed that a man had stolen a Bluetooth speaker valued at $14.86. The man was located at his residence, where he confessed and turned the stolen item over. A summons for theft will be completed.
¯ A patrolman stopped a vehicle Saturday due to the driver having a suspended driver's license. A K-9 sniff of the vehicle resulted in the positive indication for illegal drugs. A search of the vehicle revealed a small piece of grocery bag that contained a fine powdery substance. The item was seized and will be sent to BCI for chemical testing.
¯ A patrolman responded Saturday to Walmart in reference to a theft that occurred on Jan. 26. Through an investigation, it was learned that a suspect failed to pay for $103.34 worth of food, Zippo lighters and auto merchandise. The patrolman will request a summons be issued to the suspect for theft.
¯ A patrolman responded Saturday to the Microtel Hotel in reference to a fraud complaint.
¯ An officer began an investigation Saturday of an enclosed trailer that had been taken from 1010 Greene St. The trailer contained $2,700 worth of 1956 Chevrolet Belair parts. The investigation is ongoing.
¯ An officer responded Saturday to Walmart in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, the officer met with loss prevention and it was learned Deandre Reed had concealed $39.92 worth of alcohol and went past the last point of sale. The officer arrested Reed for theft.
¯ An officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle Saturday for multiple moving violations. During the stop, criminal indicators were observed and a K-9 was requested. K-9 Grando indicated on the vehicle and a search of the vehicle was conducted. During the search, suspected methamphetamine was seized off the front passenger seat. The item will be sent to BCI for testing and charges are pending the results.
¯ A patrolman responded Sunday to Walmart in reference to a theft. After investigation, it was learned a man had stolen tools and clothing. The suspect then fled and attempted to hide in the back of a work truck. The patrolman will request a summons be issued to the suspect for theft and obstruction.
¯ A patrolman spoke with Bridgeport Equipment employees Monday regarding the failure of a subject to return rental equipment. The leaf blower in question is worth $529 and has accumulated $128 in late fees after a one day rental.
¯ A patrolman was contacted Monday by the Marietta High School vice-principal in reference to a theft of a wallet containing approximately $23 in cash. The incident occurred on Jan. 27 in the gym. The juvenile suspect admitted to the theft and charges will be sent down to juvenile court.
