Ohio State Highway Patrol

¯ Kaleb L. Karcher, 17, of 625 Bender Rd., Marietta. was driving eastbound on Ohio 7 in Warrren Township Jan. 24 in a 2004 Audi A4 owned by Catheryn Haney-McGowan, same address, when he drove off the right side of the road, overcorrected, and drove off the left side of the road, striking a tree, fence and building. He was charged with failure to be in reasonable control. He was taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital by Warren EMS for possible minor injuries. The patrol report said unsafe speed was a contributing factor.

¯ Richard Charles Canterbury, 24, of 1163 Sand Ridge Rd., Waterford, was driving southbound on Ohio 339 in Waterford Township Jan. 24 when he attempted to negotiate a curve, swerved to avoid a stopped vehicle and the load in his International dump truck shifted and the vehicle overturned. No charges are listed in the report.

¯ Ronnie E. Kern, 59, of 514 Florence St., Belpre, was driving a 2003 Mustang owned by Crystal D. Kern, same address, while eastbound on Washington County 3 in Dunham Township Jan. 25 when he crossed the center line, veered off the left side of the road, struck a guardrail, then re-entered the roadway, veered off the right side of the road and struck another guardrail. The patrol report indicates unsafe speed was a contributing factor. He was charged with failure to be in reasonable control of a vehicle. A 13-year-old passenger in Kern's car had possible injuries but was not transported.

¯ Julie A. Wagner, 53, of 205 Tucker Rd., Lowell, was southbound on Ohio 339 in Waterford Township Jan. 25 in a 2017 Jeep Cherokee SUV while Lakyn Lynn McGuire, 19, of 665 Sand Ridge Rd., Waterford, was driving northbound on Ohio 339 in a 2016 Nissan Rogue SUV owned by Chris C. Clatterbuck, 1714 Washington Blvd. Suite B, Belpre. McGuire went left of center and struck Wagner's vehicle. Wagner's Jeep then went off the right side of the roadway and struck a guardrail. McGuire was charged with failure to be in reasonable control of a vehicle. She and a 3-year-old passenger were transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital by Beverly-Waterford EMS for possible minor injuries.

¯ Jonna Michelle Hess, 26, of 9025 Ohio 676, Vincent, was driving a 2019 Chevy Malibu owned by Rilley D. Hess, 17 Hass Dr., Stockport, westbound on Ohio 676 in Warren Township Jan. 26 when she ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. Warren EMS transported her to Marietta Memorial Hospital for suspected minor injuries. No charges are listed in the report.

¯ Melissa S. Kehl, 34, of 2112 Pride Ave., Belpre, was northbound on Ohio 339 in Barlow Township in a 2010 Chevy Tahoe SUV owned by Keenan A. Kehl, same address, Jan. 25 when she sideswiped an Ohio Department of Transportation 2020 Ford F-350 pick-up that was parked on the side of Ohio 339 facing northbound and being used to set up mowing signs. Kehl continued on and was found by OSHP at her residence. She was charged with leaving a marked lane before driver ensures it is safe to do so. The patrol report listed her as being distracted by something outside the vehicle and listed her condition as "unknown."

¯ A 2000 Dodge Neon owned by William S. Lucas of 18373 Ohio 339, Waterford, and driven by Lyla S. Lucas, 16, of 13050 Ohio 676, Waterford, was traveling southbound on Ohio 339 Jan. 26 in Waterford Township when she crossed the center line, traveled off the left side of the road and struck a guardrail. She was charged with failure to be in reasonable control of a vehicle.

¯ David A. Fincham, 55, of 41600 Trail Run Rd., New Matamoras, was driving a 2007 Nissan Murano SUV and was pulling out eastbound from a private drive onto Ohio 7 Jan. 27 in Marietta Township when he failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic and was struck by James Jordan Brown, 35, of 609 56th St., Vienna, driving a 2011 Kia Sorento SUV. Fincham then veered off the left side of the road and struck a fire hydrant. Fincham was charged with with failure to yield right of way on a public highway.
