Aug. 8:

¯ Shortly after 2 a.m., police became involved in a pursuit with a vehicle that had no visible lighting during nighttime hours. The vehicle fled from officers across multiple streets and struck multiple parked motor vehicles on Quarry Street. The vehicle continued about 3.4 miles at speeds ranging from 15 mph to 50 mph, at one point trying to hit police vehicles. The pursuit ended at the Ridgewood Court apartments, where there was a brief foot chase. Five juveniles aged 17 were taken into custody. Four of them were released to parents or guardians. The driver was charged with failure to comply and assault, and taken to the juvenile center. Following the vehicle pursuit, police were actively involved in a fleeing and eluding investigation. All juveniles involved said they were intoxicated by alcohol that was bought by an adult. The adult will receive a summons for furnishing alcohol to minors.

¯ Police were dispatched to Seventh Street about the theft of a catalytic converter from a vehicle parked in the lot at KMA Auto.

Aug. 9:

¯ Police were dispatched to the 400 block of Greene Street about a domestic violence incident. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Roy W. Brinker, 51, and the victim. Brinker was arrested and charged with domestic violence.

Aug. 10:

¯ Police investigated the report of a Go Mart customer driving off without paying. The driver returned and paid for the gasoline.

Aug. 12:

¯ Police responded to a disturbance in the 400 block of Montgomery Street. The disturbance was related to the theft of an air conditioner. The case is under investigation.

¯ Police responded to Meadow Lane about a domestic disturbance. After investigation, Thayaparan Naharajah, 57, was arrested for domestic violence and taken to the Washington County Jail.

Aug. 13:

¯ Police were dispatched to Veritas Academy, 115 Victory, about a breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was found that an unknown suspect or suspects entered and caused significant damage to the interior of the school.
