July 30:
¯ Tyler Robert Rowley, 24, of 821 Cairns Run Road, Lowell, was driving a 2011 GMC Sierra pickup truck southbound on County Road 25 July 30 in Lawrence Township when he went off the right side of the road, struck a sign and overturned. Aug. 1:
¯ A 2022 Hyundai Elantra owned by Joseph McCarter of 49200 Hickory Hill Road, Reedsville, and driven by Emily K. Verdill, 19, same address, was southbound on Township Road 32 in Adams Township Aug. 1 when it went off the right side of the road, struck a large rock and overturned one full turn. Verdill had possible minor injuries and was taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital by Devola EMS. She was charged with operating a motor vehicle without being in reasonable control. Alcohol use was suspected. She was given a test for alcohol use but results were not known at the time of the report.
Aug. 2:
¯ David E. Salisbury, 53, of 151 Reese Road, Fleming, was driving a 2022 Golf Cart Outlet golf cart northbound on Reese Road Aug. 2 in Barlow Township when the cart overturned onto its side and Salisbury was ejected onto the roadway. He was taken by Barlow EMS to Marietta Memorial Hospital with suspected serious injuries. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle without being in reasonable control and OVI, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse, or a combination of them. The report listed an unknown distraction to the driver. The trooper’s notes on the accident noted there were no roadway obstacles but a yaw mark from the front left tire suggested the operator turned hard to the right. Unsafe speed was noted as a contributing factor and being under the influence of alcohol was suspected. The patrol report noted that the state highway patrol trooper and the Barlow EMTs both detected a strong alcoholic odor coming from Salisbury and from spilled liquid on the driver’s side of the cart. Salisbury was initially breathing but unresponsive, but became conscious and was then belligerent throughout his transport to the hospital and during his hospital stay, the report said. The hospital next day reported it did not draw blood for an alcohol test because of the patient’s combative nature, the patrol report noted.
