Gospel Mission pantry fundraiser

A spaghetti dinner fundraiser will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Evergreen Community Center (behind Hadley Funeral Home – Reno Chapel). The event is a fundraiser for the Gospel Mission. On the menu will be homemade spaghetti sauce (Don Schafer’s), pasta, bread, salad and dessert. There will be door prizes, a silent auction, a country store, two 50/50 drawings, musical entertainment, and much more.

Donations will be taken at the door.

Flea market at Beverly UMC Oct. 12 & 13

The Beverly Lions Club will have an inside flea market and vendor show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 12 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 13 at Beverly United Methodist Church. Vendors may have a 5×10 space for $10 for one day or $12 for two days. Eight-foot tables are available for $5. Deadline for reservations is Oct. 5. Food will be available.

Expert on refugee crisis will speak

First Presbyterian Church and the Mid-Ohio Valley Interfaith group will be hosting Presbyterian Peacemaking speaker Manolis Ntamparaki from Greece on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Ntamparakis is the director of social action for the NAOMI Ecumenical workshop for Refugees, a nonprofit organization founded two years ago. He has made it his calling to help refugees and react to the ongoing lack of basic care programs for them. His vision is to contribute toward societies of peace. Ntamparaki will discuss the work he’s been involved with and the struggles refugees face. There will be a question and answer session following his presentation. This event will be in the fellowship hall of First Presbyterian Church, 501 Fourth St., Marietta. There will be a reception at 6:30 p.m. to meet Ntamparaki followed by the program at 7 p.m. The event is open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend. The church is handicapped accessible.

Trunk or Treat at Nazarene in Marietta

Marietta Church of the Nazarene located at 100 Mill Creek Road will be sponsoring its annual Trunk or Treat at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, for children up through sixth grade. The festivities will begin in the sanctuary for a time of worship, short children’s sermon, and directions. Children are encouraged to attend in family friendly costumes. It will be a no zombie zone. The evening will include prizes, pumpkins, candy, hot dogs and refreshments.

Blessing of the pets on Oct. 6 in Lowell

To commemorate the Feast of St. Francis and honor all of God’s creatures, Our Lady of Mercy Church will conduct a blessing of pets from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, in the parking lot at 50001 Lowell Hill Rd., Lowell. Father Tim Shannon will be officiating. There is no charge and all are welcome.

Meeting at Rockland UMC Sept. 29

Foothills District United Methodist Women meeting will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Rockland United Methodist Church, 2300 Washington Blvd., Belpre. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Lunch is $10. Registration is required: 740-423-7785.
