Spotlight on Twin Rivers Baptist Church
A Fall Sunday School campaign at Twin Rivers Baptist Church, 110 D.A.V. Road, Whipple, kicked off on Sunday, Sept. 23. A balloon launch was held. The Sunday school campaign will continue through Oct. 21.
Sunday school will begin at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday of the campaign with a short opening assembly to be conducted in the church auditorium.
Those attending Sunday School during the campaign will be divided into two teams — the Crushers, led by Roger Grantham, youth pastor; and the Bruisers, led by Tony Simon, children’s director.
Other special events and activities planned for the Sunday school campaign will include:
¯ Sept. 30 — A Homecoming Sunday with charter members, former members and non-members who have attended the church in the past to be recognized. Sunday school will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the morning worship service will begin at 10:30 a.m. A pig roast and fried chicken dinner will be served after the morning service.
The Homecoming Sunday will also be the kick-off for revival services with Dan DeLong as the speaker. The revival will continue through Wednesday, Oct. 3. Evening services during the revival will begin at 6 p.m. on Sunday and at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.
DeLong, who accepted the Lord as his Savior when he was 17, is a 1975 graduate of Bob Jones University. He has been serving the Lord in full-time ministry ever since.
DeLong has served as an assistant pastor; a college dean of students; and as a missionary in Papua New Guinea, Trinidad, Tobago, and Australia, starting numerous Bible-believing churches. After serving as a missionary, he returned to the States to work at Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walkertown, N.C., where he served as Christian school principal and bus leader under Dr. Bobby Roberson.
A sought after evangelist, DeLong has spoken to thousands across the United States and also internationally.
Other activities planned for the Sunday School campaign include:
¯ Oct. 7 — Senior Day will be held with valet parking to be available for senior citizens over age 75. An Old-Fashioned Sunday will also be observed that Sunday with many of those attending to be wearing “old-fashioned” clothing.
¯ Oct. 14 — Rally Day will be observed with those attending encouraged to wear the jersey of their favorite team.
¯ Oct. 21 — Parents Day will be held with parents of all children attending to be recognized and to receive a gift.
Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday, followed by the morning worship service at 10:30 a.m. Other services each week are the evening worship service at 6 p.m. on Sunday, and the midweek service at 7 p.m. each Wednesday.
Twin Rivers Baptist Church is on D.A.V. Road, off Ohio 821, and is located just 300 yards north of Exit 6 of Interstate 77.
