Fall clothing giveaway at Gilman UMC

It’s time to start your fall cleaning and bring in those clothes that don’t fit and items you don’t use, want or need – and donate them to the Gilman United Methodist Church “Fall Clothing and More Give-Away and Community Lunch.” Gilman UMW will be hosting its “Fall Clothing and More” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, in the church fellowship building. There is no cost or admission. Clothing, shoes, books, household items, etc., will be available along with a soup and hot dog lunch.

Items may be dropped off at the church starting Monday, Nov. 5, between 8 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. Set up will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7. Any questions, call the church Monday through Friday 9:30 a.m. to noon: 740-373-6478. The church is located at 312 Gilman Ave. in Marietta.

Baked steak dinner will be held on Nov. 3

First Congregational Church, located at 318 Front St., will hold its annual “Baked Steak Dinner and Auction” from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Nov. 3. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children under age 5. The meal includes baked steak, potatoes, vegetable, coleslaw or applesauce, beverage and dessert. Carry-out and delivery will be available. There will be silent and live auctions. Fall Bazaar, Luncheon is planned for Oct. 13

The “Annual Fall Bazaar and Luncheon” will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Gilman United Methodist Church, 312 Gilman Ave., Marietta. The bazaar includes crafts, bakery and attic treasures. The luncheon includes soup, sandwich and desserts. Everyone is welcome; 740-373-6478.

Adoption benefit dinner will be Oct. 13

An “Adoption Benefit Soup Dinner & Country Store” will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Reno Christian Church, (27220 SR 7 Marietta). Dinners consists of soup, salad, rolls, and desserts. Food prices by donation only.

Community luncheon in Barlow Oct. 17

A community luncheon will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Barlow Presbyterian Church, located at State Route 550 and Warrior Drive in Barlow. On the menu will be chili, potato soup, pimento spread, bologna salad, slider buns and desserts.

Clothing giveaway at Waterford Nazarene

A “Free Clothing Give-Away with Free Lunch” will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Waterford Church of the Nazarene, 111 Marquis Ave., Waterford. For more information: 740-350-9117.

Laurel Creek performs at Moss Run event

Laurel Creek will be part of Moss Run Community Church’s 183rd anniversary, singing traditional and gospel bluegrass music at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14.

It’s homecoming week for the church, with revival services each evening Monday through Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. with the Rev. Kurt Smith.

The church is located along Ohio 26, 10 miles from Marietta.

Cutler Community Center will be holding its 3rd Sunday Dinner from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at Cutler Community Center, 4550 Two Mile Run Road.

Meals are $7 for adults or $4 for children, and all proceeds benefit the Cutler Community Center.

The dinner will be hosted by Federal Creek Indian Organization of Ohio. Those who attend can enjoy homemade soup and sandwiches, homemade desserts and drinks. There will also be live musical entertainment.

Marietta Church of the Nazarene located at 100 Mill Creek Road will be sponsoring its annual Trunk or Treat at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, for children up through sixth grade.

The festivities will begin in the sanctuary for a time of worship, short children’s sermon, and directions.

Children are encouraged to attend in family friendly costumes. It will be a no zombie zone.

The evening will include prizes, pumpkins, candy, hot dogs and refreshments.

The Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Women’s Club (CWC) Craft Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the OLM church hall on County Road 60, one mile west of Lowell (5001 Lowell Hill Road).

Continuing with past tradition, the club will be serving its famous chicken pie and equally famous homemade noodles and dessert pies. Many local vendors will have their unique crafts on display for purchase. A limited amount of vendor spaces are available. (A vendor space is reserved upon confirmation of payment).
