Gale R. Morningstar of Columbus, Ga., passed away April 14, 2015, at Gintiva Vista Care in Columbus, Ga., with loving family at his bedside.
He was born at Moss Run, Jan. 2, 1934, to Otis and Lula Morningstar.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three siblings, Alberta Marshall, Cleora Michael, and Virgil Morningstar. He married Ruth Ann Doan in 1958. She survives survives as well as their four children, Michael (Cindy) Morningstar of Smith, Ala., Richard (Betsy) Morningstar of Suffolk, Va., Randy (Anita) Morningstar of Moore, Okla., and Crystal Hatcher of Phenix City, Ala.; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He served honorably in the U.S. Army and retired after 20 years. His service included several months in Vietnam during the war.
